I can get to a hospital if I need to. The Covid was over a week ago. The Covid related pneumonia is a recent development. I think.

Pneumonia is a big problem for Covid positive people,
although you may not test positive by now, as with me, the
virus has affected blood circulation in the lungs. My Doctors don't know how
long the lack of blood flow to the lungs will last, but I'm 3 weeks out of the hospital now, and the improvement is slow.

I went in to my place of work today, pulling my portable oxygen
cart - need it while walking, just to visit.
One of the truck drivers who went out covid positive
5 days before me, told me his good friend came down with too,
symptoms similar to mine - short of breath. Admitted to the hospital
and put on oxygen/proning, 2 days later he got Pneumonia. Refused
to be intubated and placed on a ventilor, he died 3 days later.

This stuff is serious to us 1%'ers
Blood oxygen is 93-94% as I type this. If it gets below 90 and stays there I will go to a hospital.

I remember probably 30 years ago, I ended up with bronchitis/maybe pneumonia after a particularly nasty bout with the flu. I remember it because I decided to leave work because I felt so shitty and got a speeding ticket on the way home that was so over the limit, I had to go to night court and ask the prosecutor to ramp it down so I could take defensive driving to get rid of it.

It was friggen horrible, and I was in my 20'a and healthy. I can imagine getting hit with that now.

Holy f’k

You .....”your chances of dying with it are .07%”

Does the above statement not assume you have the virus then?

And yet you use total population

Was there something wrong with total cases against recovered vs dead??

Those are the odds if you get it, not .07%

The odds right now of dying from COVID in the U.S. is 0.08%. Period. Math is hard.

Good God man, how about this: The odds of dying from COVID so far in 2020 in the U.S. is approximately 0.07%. Yeah, it may go up a bit month over month, or it may go down a bit, but with the impending vaccines it's more likely to go down than up.

Is that okay with you?

Savings lives is a fallacy. It's impossible. Everyone dies.

PROLONGING LIVES would be more accurate.

But we all do risky things every damn day; every time you get in a car, on a plane, play a sport, swim in the ocean, engage in just about any activity, drink alcohol, use recreational drugs, even having sex, you are taking some level of risk.

But we take reasonable steps/precautions/actions to mitigate risks, such as wearing seatbelts, protective gear when we play sports, wearing condoms, etc.

This seems to be the first time in history I am aware of that we just disregarded the whole "reasonable" aspect and are doing literally everything and anything we can think of to mitigate the risks, no matter how illogical it may be, or how ineffective it may be and without considering or giving due merit to the consequences of those measures.

And in addition to the infinitely fearful and ridiculously risk averse that are in favor of all of that (mostly due to misinformation spewed by the mainstream media), there are people profiting from the situation both financially and politically, which leads critical thinkers to question everything.

Yet when anyone raises questions, they are silenced or labelled as a 'conspiracy theorist'.

If this whole thing doesn't scare you just a little bit, you're either one of the people profiting from it, or one of the people being spoon-fed a pile of lies in order to control you and believing them.

Yours Truly,

Mildly scared critical thinker FLEX

Well said.

In my profession we've had a concept about evaluating measures to reduce radiation exposure to "save lives" that's been in use for decades; ALARA, or As Low As Reasonably Achievable. ALARA evaluates how reasonable something is based on cost, benefit, etc. Over the past couple of years I've seen a trend towards ALAP, or As Low As Possible, where reasonable has nothing to do with it. So, if we spend a billion dollars to "save" one life, it's not ALARA but under ALAP we'd spend that money - which could be much better spend elsewhere to save a lot more lives.

We can't get rid of all risk, nor should we try to.
