Z06 Allocation
I just got back from the dealer, they are in the process of pulling one back, and we'll configure mine on Tuesday. If we can make the numbers work, I'm going to pull the trigger.
This is exactly what it will look like. I shied away from the carbon fiber wheels and the exposed carbon exterior downforce bits just to save money, but also all the nightmares I've heard about mounting tires on the CF rims and destroying them. Since I'll be racing it, the rims are a big deal, but as always, I'll get extra rims anyways. |

I just ran the numbers, and this deal will likely be about $400/month UNDER my zero budget impact to the household budget. Biggest no-brainer in history. Buy a Z06 and save money.

Fair enough. I love my Allison automatic in my truck but I did 300 miles in my C5 Z06 today and running through the gears is one of life's basic pleasures.

SCCA National Solo in the Super Street Class (SS), and plenty of track days...(Sebring, Daytona, Homestead, ...) I flipping LOVE my C8 and was at Sebring on February 9th in it on brand new sticker Hoosiers, and it was awesome. I can't wait to step up to the big brother.

No congrats yet, but I'm under the understanding that there are no constraints at the moment. If that's the case, the order will be placed on Tuesday, and I'm already having conversations with two alien drivers to co-drive with me in it at the SCCA national championship in Lincoln Nebraska in September.

My C6 was a more visceral A/T ride than the C8, even with way less power. Whether it's the seats, the DCT, or not launching yet, damn thing drives like a eurosedan, or a raped ape. Can't wait for 2 days @ Fellows. |

Congrats
When Kurt was at Phoenix Performance, he showed me the "rules" for working with the carbon fiber rotors. Approved tools were required, mandated procedures plus NO sharp tools or impact on the carbon fibers rotors plus only approved aerosols could be used. Example, if the c/f rotors were dropped or unapproved fluids used on them, they were to be trashed at a cost of over $2K EACH ( price is from 5 years ago ) |

I was, and I still am, but a lot of this has to do with SCCA classing. If I go the GT3 route, it's a GT3 RS, and the only class that fits in is SSP, and will require heavy mods to be competitive, along with Hoosiers, all of which is more wear and tear on the car, which I don't want to do to a quarter million dollar car.
Lastly I guess, this allocation came up, my car still has 5 months of warranty, making it more valuable, and it's $100k less expensive and can run on street tires and be competitive in a stock class. Only mod will be an alignment. Also, deep down, I'm still a Corvette guy. This will be #7 for me. |
