Default Lets talk tractors...

Compact to be specific.

Probably Kubota or John Deere.

Question, Hydrostatic transmission or Gear drive?

Go...

I have a Kubota with a stick. Occasionally I've hired someone to use it for me on my property. They whine like little bitches because it doesn't have the hydrostatic drive. I tell them they should supply their own tractor and then I don't hire them anymore.

I worked for a man years ago who had a Kubota, I believe an L250 with the gear drive. I used it frequently.

My little JD lawn tractor has the HST and is pretty convenient.

Mine is a stick, my neighbor got a Kubota with Hydro and it's pretty sweet. If I buy again, I'd go hydro

Haven't seen any current updates on the other place. How is the new property acquisition going?

Go hydro and go Deere. I have worked at both dealerships and nobody beats Deere for parts availability... even now with all the current difficulties.

Both are good machines. Hydro gives you infinite control over speed.

Mark is suggesting JD as parts availability is better.

Having owned both, I'd get a hydro if I needed one again. To put my opinion in perspective, I daily drive a C5Z, 500 miles a week, so I'm not afraid of a clutch. Farm work is so much easier with the hydro.

Committed to two 11 acre parcels/22 acres. Considering a 3rd that would make 33 acres. Waiting on survey drawings. Field work is done/staked. Should close by end of the month. Iím ready to go to work.

I have a JD 1025R with the loader and a mower deck. Bucket and snow pusher for the loader. HSD of course.

The best attachment I have is pallet forks and a frame that mounts to the loader. Use it to move stuff everywhere, including attachments, which I can place on pallets and stack in industrial shelving.

The thing is a breeze to operate. I mow a bunch of meadow for the HOA and I can't imagine doing that much with a ZT.

4x8 pallets (8ea) picked'm up and moved them with the bucket forks but would've been way easier with hydro

Go...
I bought my Kubota in 2001. $20G's w/loader. Over time I added a 6 ft snow rear blower, brush hog, York rake, box drag, and chipper.
Hydro 4 wheel drive w/hardtop.
Never needed more than loader hoses, and it is a workhorse, beyond it's 31 hp.
Best advantage over the same size JD is the butterfly pedal. It lets you go forward and backwards without shifting your foot between 2 pedals.
When I'm popping out large rocks from the field, you can stay in contact with the bucket much easier!

I have a JD 3025e for my 26 acre tree farm up in Escambia County. Hydrostatic drive is essential for some attachments like my 24Ē stump grinder. I wouldnít go any other way to be honest. I have used the shit out of that thing since Iíve owned it. I repaired my seawall on my waterfront home myself and saved what the tractor plus every single implement cost me.

Not having do deal with the DEF and that problematic system was one reason I didnít go with a larger system. Depending on your needs you may not have that luxury. I have a 60Ē Bush hog, the stump grinder and many other items and it works fine for me. The only thing I canít do is pick up a full pallet of shingles or sod and move it across the yard.

I have a CK2610 Kioti HST. I can't really see where a gear drive would have made any difference with the work I do. I think resale value would be better with an HST though, more people seem to want the HST.
https://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/
has some goo discussions, broken out by brand.
I like my Kioti, but there are a lot of differences between dealers and the support offered, so there is that. If you buy a Deere there's usually another dealer not too far away if the 1st one sucks.

I should add that if I had it to do over again, I'd get the hydro. But if you have a manual, it works.
