Businesses just don't care
Rant switch on.
Needed AC looked at: The guy says he can be at my house Wednesday (it was a Monday) I said, don't knock yourself out. Push it to next Monday and make it easy on yourself and I'll be able to give my boss more notice. On SUNDAY EVENING, he texts me and asked to push to Wednesday. I had my two evaporator coils replaced by a different AC company: AC guys installed a coil with the drains on the wrong side. Put in about 6 -8 elbows in some crazy assed zig zag PVC drain system to correct for the drains being wrong. Neglected to glue 80% of the PVC connections. ( I can disassemble all of it by hand) A roofer I had been talking to was to send a guy out to look at the roof one day last week. He tells me, "It looks like rain that day, but not until after 11:00 so I'll have him there at 9:00". Guy shows up at 4:30 in a downpour and says it's too wet to get on the roof. Pushes to yesterday at 9:00. Calls and cancels because he has to take his wife and kid to a birthday party. Reschedules for Monday. A second roofer contacts me this morning at 10:15. Hey, what does your schedule look like today? I am available until 1:30. I was surprised at this being a saturday, but ok, Come on by. He says, I'm getting your roof measurements from my office and I'll text you when I'm on my way. Great. He set the expectation, not me. At 1:15 (he said he was only available until 1:30) I texted and said "I have not heard from you. I assume you canceled". He says, "It took longer than expected to download the dimensions (wtf?) I'll be there in 30 minutes. Nope. In each case I did not set the schedule. I let THEM decide when they could be at my house. No pressure and each time they missed their own mark. I have had the same experience with my lawn guy. "I'll come by tomorrow (Friday evening) and cut the grass. He shows up Sunday and ends up finishing the lawn in the dark because he started so late. Nobody gives a shit about anything anymore. YES, I realize shit happens, but WHEN it happens, call me. And don't call me the evening before on an appointment that's been set for a week. Don't text me that you are on your way 3 HOURS after you should have already been here and gone. If we have not even exchanged money or even shaken hands, your schedule and communication is my first impression. It is your business card. If it starts out that bad, I doubt it will magically get better. |

Dave Ramsey always said that a business that shows up on time and does the job for what they quoted will have more business than they could ever want.

SO many businesses just don't give a shit right now. And so many employees give even fewer shits because they know their bosses are desperate for employees.

Hey Arrow-Guy.
I bought a new bathroom sink fixture in January 2020. I put off changing it cuz I'm old, and crawling around on my back like a turtle and having to get up a zillion times to get a forgotten tool doesn't really appeal to me anymore. About a year ago my buddy's kid said he would do it, but hasn't yet. I offered him however much cash he would need. Then I called a local plumber, left a message that I would pay him cash, he hasn't called back yet, now almost a year later. Then I asked my neighbor last fall (younger guy) and he said he would but hasn't yet. Four weeks ago I called a larger local plumber, who a buddy recommended and had good luck with, to do the sink, replace my shower fixture (which I also have) and put new beads in my water softener. They said "Maybe next week, or it could be 2-3 weeks out." Last week was the third; I called and left a message Friday morning, wondering what was going on, they didn't call back yet. I'm about ready to torch this place and GTFO. |

I think covid stimmie checks / programs and broken supply chains, etc., are the problem? Mortgage and student loan moratoriums, etc. There’s a shit ton of dollars chasing a reduced amount of goods and services.
Modern economies are insanely complex and these global mobsters are going out of their way to destroy our’s. It isn’t businesses not caring, it’s evil government and central planners that are wrecking our economy on purpose. |

I called Pella windows to get a quote on a slider door and some storm doors. Was told she was contacting the sales person to set up the appointment. Three weeks and hearing nothing, I went online and scheduled an appointment thru the website. Did a quote over the phone and then has time to come by on Monday to get the deposit. Thinking long and hard about changing our minds when he gets here and tell them we went with someone less expensive and see what that gets.
Called a garage door company to install new doors, left work early to be home to discuss the install and help pick out options for the doors. At 5:00 PM I called the office and asked if the install/sales person was coming by. She asked if we had an appointment, said yes you scheduled it at 3:30 PM. She tried calling the person but said he was on the road so she texted him. Said he probably ran long at other appointments. He shows up at 5:30 apologizing that he was at the shop unloading a truck delivery because someone didn't show up for work. Imagine someone telling two stories. |

I am experiencing the same thing. I thought the .gov stopped handing out money already? I am working on the 4th tree guy at the moment. Will see if this one shows tomorrow morning as promised. #3 agreed on a price, failed to show, and called that evening saying he underbid and would come out the next day for $200 more that he initially quoted.
