This is still fresh, and raw. Assuming the car is never found, I'd take the check, deposit it, and just wait.....give yourself a cooling off period. Don't make a rash decision in the heat of the moment. You have another car, you have the luxury of time.

What's a month of Onstar coverage cost? Is it worth the remote possibility that the car is still intact and Onstar could locate it? I'd pay to have them try and turn it on and see if they get anything. .

I'd also like to see if other neighbors might have footage. How many entrances to your subdivision are there? I live in a smaller community, there's only 3 ways to enter and leave. So anyone having cameras near your subdivision entrances must surely have at least caught the thieves' vehicle, as well as your own, exiting. Since it sounds like the rainbow police there aren't going to do anything about it, it might be worth knocking on doors and simply asking. Also, if they have some kind of "Nextdoor" hen party app for the subdivision, maybe ask for help there, too? I'm betting you aren't the only one that lost a car in the vicinity.

This may sound like a crazy idea... But I've seen some builds with these and they are absolutely insane.

2020 or 2021 X3M.

For a couple grand you can get them running into the low tens in the mid-130s in a mid-size SUV. We really enjoy her 23 X3 and I get another 23 however they can only tune 20 and 21s right now.

BMW thought this was going to be either last ice engine and overbuilt the shit out of it. Motor can easily make into the mid-700s at the wheels with a completely stock block and internals.

The funniest part is the SUVs are geared differently than the cars so you take a tuned M3 and a tuned X3M and the X wins almost every time.

Year-round driver and plenty of room plus on the used market they're pretty cheap.

I've been searching for the right one.
