Default Mother F#@!&

My son hit something in the road today, and took the left rear tire out on the 01 Corvette. Whatever he hit did a number on it. And, tires are brand new, as in a month old. Oh well, it happened near home, got it towed back and a new tire coming. One of those racin' deals....

While that sucks sweaty donkey balls, your son was OK and that is what really matters.

It's all good. He had literally just pulled out from where my wife teaches at a local elementary school, where he had been helping her out in her room. I doubt he had traveled 100 yard before he picked whatever it was up. Whatever it was, it was made of metal, judging by the dink on the wheel.

Eh... it's a run-flat.

Just drive it as is.

No run flats there. I don't use them on my car either, because they are hard as a rock. With the sidewall that compromised, I don't think it would have made any difference.

lucky that the rim didn't get bent. I hit a chunk of 4X4 on the highway and it absolutely destroyed my left front wheel. I had zero warning due to vehicle in front of me.

Found a used one, then about three weeks later, my wife hit pot holes and bent the two wheels on the passenger side.

Got some aftermarket wheels since they were A LOT cheaper than used OEM

Glad son is OK.

I know the feeling. I did that last year while parking. Hit a sewer grating that was flush on the front and stuck out two inches on the back side. Had to drive 200 miles home on the motorcycle spare as the town I was visiting had no tires for the Vette.

At least the wheel isn't damaged. Could have been a lot more expensive.

Jeez man, I must have gotten lucky, when buying my '92 vette wheels up north yet in '95 I paid like 150 for 4 of them....250 for the adapters from VBP and of course, tires and on the car.... liked the '89 type wheels much better, and made the swap....buying the '89 rims for 125 bux here in Florida, and managed to sell the '92 rims to a drag racer for 200 bux......broke even considering the tire shop rates/mounting bal......

Thanks Fred! There is a small scuff, but it won't be that noticeable. He hit it as he was making a left out of the school, so his eyes were on traffic, and heck, even at that, he might not have seen the object. I felt bad for him, but the new tire has shipped from Tire Rack already. He and I are at the beach right now anyway. Unfortunately, we had to leave my wife and youngest son at home because she teaches and work has started, and my other son starts back to school next week, and can't afford to miss the first 3 days.
