you have to be pretty close to use a taser. way closer than the 21 foot rule that police are taught for drawing a firearm. basically, studies have shown that an assailant can cover 21 feet faster than a normal person can draw and fire one shot - about 1.5 seconds. in which case the assailant "wins" and the police get injured or killed. tasers are for close in use when a weapon is not present.

Understandable, I also saw 3 officers had him surrounded (and probably many more) with drawn (?) handguns. I still say it would have been easy for at least one officer to have used a taser. Or a a bean bag (shot gun) to the abdomen would have also taken him down as well to get him into taser range or physical apprehension.

Maybe the stupid idiot choose to encrouch upon the officer who only had a holstered hand gun though.

Either way it looked intential and he did say shoot me (twice) didnt he?

they are not required to engage in a "fair" fight, they are required to enforce the law. and if you do not obey their commands, they are authorized to make you obey. if you obey the law and the police's commands, you too will not gain any more holes before the end of the day.
