I have a new app on my phone called PeakFinder. Turns out that I can see Mt. Mitchell, highest point in the east, from my upstairs window. That just doubled the value of my house.

That is absolutely true. The Aleutian Islands (part of Alaska) stick way out into the ocean, going south-west from the mainland. You can see the Russian mainland from at least one point on the islands.

What you think she said: "And I can see Russia from my house." That was actually said by Tina Fey on SNL.

Of course the propaganda press spread that around as if it was fact because Palin is conservative and must be smeared, and every liberal actually believes it because they know no different.
