Ford and the Hot Poker Up the Corn Hole.

I own a Ford Explorer. Yes, it is something I keep quiet about. But I bought it cheap and it tows my 64 vert. It is brown like a turd.

I've put 106K miles on it. It has not exploded or rolled over even once. Multiple kids and dogs have puked in it.

Two weeks ago, the transmission blew up. O/D light blinking. Took to local shop. They rebuild. Charge me $2800. (the hot poker).

I use credit card to pay. (hot poker further shoved up money hole).

Shop said "3-4 days max". Took 5 days.

Attempted to drive out of lot - shifter indicator all screwed up (Drive is neutral, Neutral is reverse, Park is lift off). They adjust.

On way home, THE SAME ISSUE FROM THE ORIGINAL PROBLEM SHOWS UP. Light is blinking - codes are being thrown. Where are they going? Right up my stink tube.

Drive it back. They have it for two more days. They replaced the solenoid pack (thinking it was bad - it was a Ford part).

Weekend here. No truck yet. Going on two weeks without it. Still having problems. Perhaps torque converter. Must bring back truck next week.

No extra charges - but very difficult to manage schedules with remaining cars.

Sigh. Stupid cars. Bunghole sore.

Stupid cars or stupid transmission shop? And WTF happened to $600 transmission rebuilds?

I'm going with Spencer. He just got a new job at a tranny place. I don't think it was the tranny place he was thinking of.

My '91 Mustang is in the tranny shop right now. $2k for a rebuilt T5 and a new clutch. No reach around. The whole car was only $1900.
