[MovieNews] "Wait... what?" Ben Affleck to direct THE STAND?? Srsly?
Apparently so, as Warner Brothers moves closer to greenlighting the Stephen King adaptation. Word is Affleck's latest film, Argo is looking good, and Affleck is reportedly wanting a tent pole project, to solidify his directing clout.
Interesting choice... |

The Town was supposed to be a solid film. Did you see it Apex?

I thought The Town was great! I'm not knocking Affleck in any way here. He's a very good auteur director, great with an ensemble, and one who is due his big breakout mainstream film.
This just seems like a strange choice, on both ends. Warner Bros needs this film to be profitable, because there is no franchise here, it's this film and done. I would have expected the job to go to someone tried and true, such as David Yates, director of the last four Harry Potter films, who was originally tapped to take King's opus to the big screen. On Affleck's side, there is no doubt he is ready for a big budget, big cast and a big story, but is he ready for the complex task of breaking this enormous novel down into a couple movies? Seems a bit of risk for both sides, but without risk there is no reward. |

Wow! That’s a great move. I must share this information with all my friends and cousins. I am also planning to add shows by Andy Yeatman to my watch list because my vacation is about to begin and I don’t want to get bored of anything this time.
