bullshit. State education officials in Oregon have just enacted what is arguably the nation’s toughest — and most politically correct — policy on the use of American Indian imagery.

The new rule bans all public schools from using team names, mascots, symbols and images that depict or refer to Indian tribes, individuals and customs.

Among the names now officially off limits: Redskins, Indians, Chiefs and Braves. (Try telling that to fans in Washington, Cleveland, Kansas City and Atlanta.)

Any school that doesn’t fully comply within five years risks a cutoff of state funding, The Wall Street Journal reports.

And there are no exceptions. By which we mean absolutely no exceptions.

Not even for the Warriors — which is the team name at the public school run by . . . the Confederated Tribe of Siletz Indians.

Seems Oregon officials think the tribe is demeaning its own culture.

Stretch it a little further: Part of the motto of PETA rejects the use of animals for "entertainment". If the use of Native American names is "racist", is the use of animal names "inhumane"? Good-bye the Indianopolis Colts, the Detroit Tigers, the Chicago Bears, and the Chicago Cubs (which might be a good thing).

On a personal note, my beloved Ole Miss football team can no longer be called "Rebels". Well, damnit, it's time for the New York "Yankees" to go, too! Oh..I forgot the intensely religious groups who may be offended: Isn't in inappropriate to have L. A. "Angels" or New Jersey "Devils"? The "Saints" of New Orleans will surely be the first to go.

It's all as silly as this: Always putting the more "oppressed" one first: "Sisters and brothers" instead of "brothers and sisters", "She/he" instead of "He/she". (But not "ladies and gentlemen" - that one's not PC. You get the difference?)

The NCAA made UT-Chattanooga change their name from the Moccasins a few years ago. Now they're just the Mocs. And they filed suit against the Univ of North Dakota Fighting Sioux last year even though the Sioux tribe said they didn't have a problem with the school using the name.

I remember the Fighting Sioux case. Of the two tribes, one voted 2-1 to keep the name. The other tribe voted the same, but the "elders" nullified the election and voted against the name. Sounds fair....

Believe me, I know. I'm proud of the basis on which this country was founded and established - and I'm proud of those who serve this country.
