Sadly, these days its too easy to believe what you see and hear. In fact, I'd say it's an overwhelming chore to actually form your own opinion based on non-biased factual information.
Of course, with religion it's quite a different story. Most of the important religious tenents require "faith" not proof. An exponentially harder thing to form an opinion on.

I'm no bible scholar and I'm not even convinced of my own religious beliefs, but this one bible verse from Matthew 6.1-4 has resonnated with me for years. It seems more appropriate than ever these days:

“Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven. Thus, when you give to the needy, sound no trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets that they may be praised by others"
I agree with that verse and would say the same is true about people that attack Christians and Christianity.

The Bible has the old law which the Jews were under and the new law which everyone is under.

Well, the point you are making may have some relevance to you, but I can't see how this justifies the atrocity in the verses.

Are you saying it's an acceptable story to the Jewish readers?

And if the old law doesn't apply toChristians, then why do they have the verses in the Bible they use? Why not just delete all the extraneous stuff? Seems like, if they really don't apply any more, they are just serving to confuse things.

Ask the Jews about that story and get their opinion.

The Old Law that got replaced by the New Law doesn't apply. Some things from the Old Law got carried over. Animal sacrifices did not get carried over.

So if it no longer applies, why is it still in the Bible?

How many deflections have you had on this one question? I'll pause while you count them.

If you can't come up with a good answer, don't worry... I didn't think you could.

this, in and of itself, is yet another deflection. Are you going to answer the question of post 50?

Can you explain the relevance of this story, which is being kept in the Old Testament?
