Default Thanks Toro! 621 QZR blower

Like an idiot, not only did I not change the oil after last winter BUT I left the gas in it as well.

I changed the oil, replaced old gas with new...FIRST PULL start!

I love this thing. It has been flawless for 3 winters and now it allows me to be an idiot like this. Thanks Toro!

I properly prepared my 1968 Cub Cadet 125 ( Star Tron in the gas plus a battery tender Jr hook up ) and my vintage cub started right up too. It hadn't been run since the last snow storm.

You got lucky, I prepared

My old blower is about 25 years old and still works great. I got it for nothing when a buddy was replacing it. I did prep it for the summer sleep (Stabil in gas, run through for 10 minutes) and it fired up in a couple of seconds on the electric start. Warmed it up, changed the oil, topped up the gas, and lubed every joint, or bearing I could, and it's ready.
BRING IT ON OLD MAN WINTER!

I cut the grass today because it is still growing. The mower runs all year here. Have to mulch leaves after the lawn goes dormant. Bring it on... Winter!

I figure why own your own, when you can just borrow a neighbors lawnmower?

Thanks El Toro!

Winter... bring it on!

Almost 8" of wet heavy snow here today, unfortunately the snow blower is still in the shed behind the lawn tractor. The good thing is it will be back in the 40s in a couple of days so this will all melt shortly. Time to get the mowers cleaned up and put away and bring the snowblower around to the garage

I found this old (1969) Wheel Horse many years ago in the trash. Put a new auger belt on it and it refuses to die. I never have to use the electric start - one good pull does the trick! When the snow is done for the season I just empty the gas tank and run it until it dies.

I'm also working on this beast, another trash find. It runs fine - just needs a couple of bearings in the self-propelled drive replaced.

Snow blowers === two stage

Snow throwers === single stage

Obviously some of us do not know as much about snow as others.

Up here they're all snow blowers, even the puny electric ones.

I had one of those monsters back in the late 70s,early 80s, when I lived in Upstate NY (snow belt region).

Horizontal shaft, even the cam had a shaft on it for the reverse drive operation.
Pretty neat set-up. Exploded the thing trying to clear an 18" storm dump in the driveway. Crankshaft blew a hole thru the side of the block.
Had to call a snow plow truck.

Had a Honda 521 for 14 years. Gave it to my daughter last year, after putting a new belt and auger paddles on it. Still runs great.
Toro 621 today.

I don't own one, but the one the neighbor boy uses on my drive does a nice job. I think it is an Ariens. Haven't needed it yet, but it won't be long ...... hope he has it ready to go.

I had the early 70s version of that until the late 90s when I bought my Ariens. The Ariens has been flawless for 15+ years but that old Wheel Horse was great, used it so much that the tires, which were solid rubber, became completely smooth and I had to cut new tread into them!

All my stuff is in moving storage. Big blower, plow for the ATV.

Delivery is on 12/7. Already avoided a 20" snow because property is still owned by the builder.

This could be an interesting winter...
