PSA colonoscopy
For the past few weeks I've been trying to get in touch with an old friend. We talk about once a quarter. Last time I spoke to him he had been cleared of his Colon cancer and was doing fine ( Early September) .
I spoke to his wife and Daughter the other day. He died in October after they found a tumor in his brain related to the colon cancer. They gave him 2-3 days to live and took about a month to go. He had never gotten a Colonoscopy because he did not like the idea. That's the second friend I've lost over the past 10 years because of that. Over 50,000 people lose thier lives to this disease and the number is shrinking due to advance testing. Please listen to your doctor and get tested so the rest of us here can enjoy your participation for a long time. |

Sound advice. My uncle passed from colon cancer, never had a check up. I've had three, found a few non-cancerous polyps. Doc says one more to go in 5 years.

I wanted mine over and done with by the time I turned fifty.Had it scheduled a few days before my birthday and had to wait in the hospital room when they realized it was before my birthday and they had to get the ok from the insurance company.Thankfully it was close enough to my birthday or I would have had to do it all the "prep work" over again.
All was good and it was easy-peasy don't believe the hype and get it done. |

The way I look at it is no one dies of colon cancer. They die of never having a colonoscopy.

You should begin testing at 50 years of age. I didn't and put it off until I was 60. At the end of the first colonoscopy four cancerous (thankfully stage 1) polyps were found necessitating an operation to remove the last 12 inches of my colon.
Since then they have found more polyps during my biennial colonoscopy but fortunately none of them have be cancerous. Go get your exam so that you can be treated if necessary. |

I had it done last August at the age of 55. All clear and nothing to the actual procedure. The hardest part was being careful of diet for the week before the "prep". Follow ALL directions and the prep is all done with in a couple of hours. |

They request you have someone there to drive you home but since I wasn't under sedation I didn't have to hang around waiting for the sedation to wear off so...I hopped in my truck and drove myself and my wife home. |
