Who remembers the thread I started about a year and a half ago regarding the girl we sent to Westminster with one of our dogs who got a DWI TWO WEEKS after she got her drivers license? Well, she's getting her license back next month when she turns 18.

My wife works in insurance and she's helping her get some quotes. The numbers are staggering.

6 months with Progressive if paid in full; $2900.00
6 months with Travelers assuming they can get underwriters approval? $3800.00

This is for liability only on an 8 year old Accord.
Holy hell.

The good news is the kid has straightened her life out and starts college in the fall. She done good. As pissed off as I was at her, I'm equally proud of her for turning her life around. She's even volunteering to speak at her high school about this without the court mandating she does so.

I remember Simpleman telling me not to give up on these kids, as hard as that may be. You were right mutha-fo.

Try ERIE Ins. co........they are a GREAT regional carrier, I was SO sad to lose them when moving to Florida....they treated me GREAT over some 25 year run.....for ALL insurance needs.....

Progressive is usually pretty good for rates on higher risk drivers.

Remember about 12/15/12 my wife in traffic, got slammed HARD by a ex cop car with those nerf bars on front...at 45 mph......pushed her forward into the minivan ahead of her, we were and still are with Progressive, and they didn't even raise her rates, my vette is insured under a collector policy......

I rather surprised, given that insurance in Florida is a scam operation.....

I would be curious to know what the standard rate would be for a person her age without the DUI. I know young men get raked over the coals when it comes to insurance rates (compared to girls), but almost 6 grand a year is effin nuts. PISS ON THAT!

She was a minor and has kept her nose clean. Any lawyer worth a shit could get that DUI expunged from her record now that she is an adult.

This is what happens when people drive drunk.

Shew broke multiple laws and could have cost her insurance company millions of dollars due to poor decision making. She will pay the Price for this as she should.

It IS her fault. Nobody said otherwise. My point was high rates like this drive some people to drive without INsurance. Period. And you and I pay for it.

Thats the part I was concentrating on. Anyone who drives without insurance because they can't afford it does not deserve to drive.

No argument. And if you live in a state that mandates insurance and you get caught without it? Pull their DL, fine the shit out of them. Problem is, if you're the type to drive without insurance, you'll probably drive without a DL too.

This was a hard lesson for her, and one she probably needed. But that doesn't change the one thing; I feel bad for her. Especially since she's done so well since. I know. Libfktard and all that crap.
