Truth. Nothing like a twenty something year old having to move back in with you.

Both of my sons are well mannered, and very respectful. Eldest is 19 and youngest about to turn 16. That said, they both know that if they act out, no matter what their age is, I will still put a boot up their ass.

I’ve seen it time and again. Great parents that end up with a chithead of a kid.

So frustrating to try to do the right things and still see things go south despite your best efforts.

Hubs ans I will back you when you are right but also let you pay the piper when you f up. Make your bed, sleep in it. One kid is onboard and lives as we have raised them, the other not so much.

Ugh. There would be some strict guidelines and a timeframe if that was ever allowed. If their situation was due to no fault of their own we would help. If dumb decisions got them there, there is a good chance it would be a solid No.

Get a dog. They die in 15-18 years. Get another dog.

Done.

Statistically speaking, I’m a better dog mom than a human mom. Dogs love and listen to me.

Hard to say no when there's a baby in their arms. But yes, serious guidelines are in order.

Yes, BUT...... if you have a toxic family member, it is a slippery slope to allow them back into your home for the sake of a (grand)child. It becomes very "tricky" to say the least to maintain accountability, while trying to shield the child from a bad situation.

In the end, it's all about free will.

I have a friend that I met shortly after I moved here who is as sweet as can be...just a really stellar person who would do anything for anyone.

Her sister...well, is another story has been in and out of jail, even went so far as to commit identity theft of her own sister (a situation which took forever for my poor friend to straighten out).

Her mother, whom I've met (and is as equally sweet as my friend) lamented about how her two daughters turned out so differently, "I raised them both exactly the same way", etc...

I told her not to blame herself for her other daughter choosing the wrong path...she made that choice, not you.

I'm good with being a dog mom instead of a human mom just wish they didn't die so soon

Dogs also don't seem to fk up as much as human kids the worst thing they do might be tracking mud in the house or something

Kids far > than animals.

A fk'ed up kid dies you never get over it. A perfect animal dies and you get another one.

I raised two sons now 37 and 36. Both of them have a much better education than myself. Both have made far more money than i ever made, and i've made a lot. My oldest son finally got his act together at 33. He could have 300k and in a month it be gone and not very much to show of it. Neither one of my sons did drugs or much drinking. I let them know about my life and see some of the guys i grew up with. I guess it scared them enough to not go that route. The only time to worry about your kids is if they don't have it together by 40. You can't compare yourself with your kids on how things were back then, different generation and values. You just love your kids and give them over to God.

I had my shit together by 25. I then began the tedious process of dismantling it into the wreck it is today.

I Benjamin Buttoned it.
