Been awhile, but used to go there all the time to Eglin. It is very laid back. Lot's of retired folks from the AF. Most call it LA (Lower Alabama) because it is definitely the south.

What's the boss like?

They have the whitest sand beaches with emerald green water. Beyond that, there are some great local places, but they are casual. Think grouper and conch fritters.

As ZipZap said, it's very casual. You're not going to find any gourmet restaurants there, but that doesn't mean the food isn't good. It is pretty good seafood, but no lobster (cold water), for instance. Cafe Italia is still there, but under new ownership. It's right on the bay. It used to be the best Italian food around.

Destin is very touristy, seafood served family style and mostly fried and only fair quality and still not cheap. Drive down to Sandestin for more upscale restaurants, such as Seagars, The Elephant Walk, and Bistro Bijoux. You will pay for the experience, though.

We have a place in Freeport, halfway between Destin and Panama. Walton is a pretty beach. We've been to it many times. Santa Rosa is nice too, and Ed Wallin beach is great too. Destin, Sandestin, and Panama all have tons of restaurants of different types to choose from.

the boss is an older gentleman ....very nice.....great boss....she loves her job and he is a great guy to all his employees.....takes very good care of them and makes sure that they enjoy coming to work.......lots of little bonuses for crazy stuff......such as he gives the employees a 50 dollar bonus if they are at work every day on time for the month...

The Ramada is on the island, next to the Boardwalk. In the Boardwalk itself are Floyds Shrimp House, The Crab Shack, and the Black Pearl. FOr Nighlife there is the Swamp nightclub and Howl at the Moon, a dueling piano show. Those are all next door within easy stumbliong distance from the Ramada. Not to far away is Pandora's for good steaks. Going into Destin, about 5 miles, you have endless choices, Louisianna Langniappe is good.
