Just called the property management company that we have our house on Amelia Island rented out through. House has storm shutters stored in the garage so I want them to be ready to go over and put them up.

Latest models showing it coming further west than what they were showing this morning. My BIL who has lived on the island for 17 years told me he gassed the car and has his bug out bag loaded. Waiting for tomorrow's updates before he decides to leave or not. This one could be the real deal

Just talked to my oldest, he lives about a half mile off the water on Jacksonville Beach. They are prepping to bail. I am about 50 miles inland, so we are making moderate preparations. Took the Coupe to a remote garage. We are scheduled to leave on vacation Friday AM, but it looks like they will shut the Cape down, so we may just take off early.

I on a ~30' hill above the St. Johns river in Orange Park but my house is shingles some 20 years old.....poor condition....and of course the joint is surrounded by several tall trees that can strike the house .......and I have cut down some FIVE of them in the 19 years I been here.....

more worried about tree/branch damage than anything else.....

I just closed the accordions gassed both cars got some groceries now in just waiting. It might be a Cat 4 off the coast from me and I'm under a hurricane watch. This is going to suck. I'm glad I have a whole house generator. I told my neighbors it will be 100.00 bucks for a warm shower and 50.00 for 10 minutes of AC..

Nassau county has issued a mandatory evacuation order for Amelia Island effective 6:00AM tomorrow. Main bridge off the island shuts down once sustained winds of 45MPH.
Our tenants left this AM.

DEEJ, that the krazy part, I went out about 1130 AM today, to fill wife's car....the GATE station on Blanding that is usually a damn ZOO had about 3-4 places to pull right up to the pumps, no sweat filled it up regular.....Wife's daughter complained a little while ago that the Shell station next to VyStar on Blanding had only high test.....

the vette gauge sez empty, but I bet I have about 9 gallons in that thing yet....

and all of last month I drove a total of 70 miles in it.....yawn.....went to All Star tires and put two new rear tires on wife's Focus.....190 out the door....

Since most of the people around here make you look young I just went out and got 10 gallons of gas.

After bringing everything in securing the house the rest of the way yesterday I feel like I played 4 quarters of football I have muscles that I forgot I have because they are killing me and not to mention my sciatica is letting me know its still active...One funny note yesterday I decide to turn on the whole house generator which is 45KW its a six cylinder motor and when I went to start it manually I get the dreaded battery ticking. So I pull off the panel on the other side of the generator to discover that the new battery I stuck in there a year and a half ago had blown up at some time. I went into semi panic mode because who needs this crap at this time. Went and purchased a new one and put it in and the generator worked great.

Weather update from Davie cloudy no rain or wind yet at 8:30 Have not lost satellite yet..
