When the current numbering system for years began. Obviously wasn't in use until sometime after Jesus died. I felt probably around the 4'th century. Searched it up.

According to the wiki -

This calendar era is based on the traditionally reckoned year of the conception or birth of Jesus, with AD counting years from the start of this epoch and BC denoting years before the start of the era. There is no year zero in this scheme, thus the year AD 1 immediately follows the year 1 BC. This dating system was devised in 525 by Dionysius Exiguus of Scythia Minor, but was not widely used until the 9th century.

Looks like my intuition was off by a few generations. That part about year zero not being a thing was not something I'd considered. Maybe a new count after the next world war? Should be useful in tracking the half-life of radiation.

Years ago the beginning of "wokeism" started changing the BC and AC to BCE & ACE, "before the common era" and "after the common era." It was necessary to remove Christ from any and all dates according to them..

Kirk for the win Have seen most of the original Star Trek episodes. Was into science fiction when I was young, read hundreds of SF books way back then. Tried watching that bald guy once or twice. Didn't think much of it, like some kind of science fiction soap opera, and I don't do dramas.
