Here's an example I own of classic psychedelic rock out of the Topanga Canyon, CA area in 1968. St. John Green only released this one album and it's become quite a collectors item. It's a great example of the psyche-rock hippies were into at the time.

I saw these guys live with the Strawberry Alarm Clock, in Houston in 1967. Worst live show I ever saw, they were all so stoned that they couldn't play shit!

Well, what I was trying to do was sort of get a glimpse of how hippie-groove morphed into hippie-rock then morphed into rock then morphed into (pre)-disco genre to eventually genre-morph and morph to today ...

I noticed no one posted up like Helter Skelter which morphed from Strawberry Fields (Manson ended the hippie culture/summer of love genre) ... so I would be hard-pressed to say that hippie music even exist(ed)s with the exception of say the Grateful Dead ...

We can't talk about hippy music without Leon Russell.

or Dr, John.

Both went on to other genres- Leon produces for Willie Nelson, Dr. John's become a legend in the New Orleans Jazz scene. In the early 70's, though, they were at the forefront of the "underground radio" movement in So Kali.

Along with these guys

and, believe it or not, this guy ("Gasoline Alley")
