I have a '10 equipped exactly like that. I get 13-14 around town, much less pulling, and I don't think I've ever gotten more than 19 empty on the highway, and I don't drive it hard at all.

Shit you think thats good, you should see how far he can get outta twin blown 502’s on just a few gallons of gas.

As my uncle used to always say, never trust a mans claim on his dick size or fuel mileage.

Boost lag in the Explorer Sport? The 3.5 EB in my exe's Explorer did not have much boost lag at all. And the back seats are huge. But sure, give the 5-series BMW a go with that massive car seat lol.

At what age/weight can you turn the seat around? Something to consider. The seat thing may be shorter term than the vehicle ownership.

Interested to see what pops up in this thread. I will be in the market in the near future as well

I'd be another +1 for an F150 but in the last 20k miles the following has been replaced, my '16 F150 is a 3.5 eco 4x4 bought new and is at 51k miles

Transfer case
Steering wheel- First one started to disenigrate
Rear defrost stopped working
The rear sliding window, then the entire rear window due to a botch job on the window install
A/c module reprogrammed, it stopped blowing cold

Ford wouldn't warranty the chrome wheels that pitted a year after owning the truck.

I've probably been in for 5 or 6 recalls from doors not staying shut or locking, to seat belts modules that could catch fire.

Now My trans is shifting hard from 1st to 2nd and when coming to a stop the converter doesn't unlock until you have been at a complete stop and when it does release it lunges the turck forward a few inches....

For a $50k truck I expected much better ownership experiance.

I've been very happy with the power and fuel mileage. I've found my dash meter is off my about 1 mpg. I hand calculate between 18.4 and 18.9. 70% city, 30% highway.

Chris we have had shit luck, or we are really rough on cars

Same stuff happened to an '03 Z71 that I bought new. A/C had quit twice, transmission slipped, oil pressure gauge quit, horn quit, and it creaked and rattled like it was 100 years old. I traded that piece of shit after owning it 8 months. I have GM products for toys, and a Ford for when I actually want to go somewhere. I would never, ever buy a new GM again for my primary vehicle.

Until it has that kind of range i still need another family road trip vehicle.

Does it have AFM? If so get a Range AFM disabler for $180, it will keep the truck from going to 4cyl mode and the torque converter won't crap out.

I have one on my 2019 Tahoe, works great.

Nicest feature is the ease of ingress/egress as the front door openings are huge and the rear wheel arches extend only minimally into the opening. No, it's not sexy and it is not fast but the damned thing is a pretty perfect DD.

That said, if you want SPACE I recommend a short wheelbase F150 with the Coyote V8. You choose the cab design... keep the options in check and drive happy for less than your preferred total.
