Default Flu shot....

Wife and I are getting the senior shot tomorrow. I have been getting it every year for the last 14 or 15 years. Had it once or twice before I started getting the shot and would have welcomed death.

I highly recommend getting it ......but do what you want,I know like anything else there are believers and non

In the military, I had to get the shot every fall. Just about every year, I got sick afterwards. When I retired, I tried an experiment. I didn't get the flu shot the first year and didn't get sick. So, I did it again the next year and didn't get sick. So, I've purposely not gotten it and gotten sick only once in six years. Dumb luck or what?

Hey every person is different, many different reactions to that shot and some of course have no reaction!

I have had the flu in the past and its not fun, not as bad as shingles or Gout, but its bad.

I have enough medical problems (age 72) that if I can keep the flu away by a simple shot I'm going to do it. My health insurance pays for it in full I get it at the doctors office, but if I had to pay for it I would still get it.

I've been getting one for 30+ years for a good reason. I had my spleen removed 30 years ago due to a blood issue. They told me it was highly recommended that I get one.

The hospital where I volunteer at are recommending to the employees that they wait until November 1st to get the shot. I guess they are expecting the bug to arrive a little later this year and hang around longer into the spring.

I'm not sure if I'll get one or not. I rarely get the flu, but I did last year. I didn't get the shot last year, but my wife did. I got my flu from her. She got it from her sister-in-law who came home from Ireland already sick, so it was probably a strain of the flu they were not expecting here and the shot did not cover it. Nasty stuff, too. Had ne down for over a week.

I haven't had a flu shot yet, and that's not likely to change.

I've had maybe two shots my entire life. I've had the flu twice in my entire life, and one year I had the shot a couple of months earlier. So I just don't bother, and everything is fine. I think the fact that I'm rarely around other people's kids helps.

I take the old man and myself for one every year. Knock on wood...neither of us has had a flu bug or even a cold since we've been going. Highly recommended.

Maybe the military shots suck Johnny?

As 6spd said, shots effect folks differently. We used to get the series of Anthrax. Some folks said those shots gave them terrible side effects.

Agreed, everyone does react different to shots.....I for one feel any short term discomfort is worth it and it is not possible to get the flu from the shot....

I used to not get it. Never had the flu. My wife convinced me to start getting it. She works at a hospital...who knows what she could be exposed to. And being asthmatic even a mild case of the flu could put me in the hospital.

The shots never give me a problem.

If you get one this year, get the quadrivalent version

I’ve had the flu once, it was miserable. With the little one due in 4 weeks I’ll be getting my shot here in the next week or so.

I know. That's what the hospital recommends and they give us that for free. The different thing this year is they are telling us to not get it until November 1st, I think they are saying the flu is expected to arrive late this year and hang around until later next year than usual.

I don't get why seemingly normal people suddenly become anti-vaxxers when it comes to flu shots.

I get them every year and have for at least 20 years.
