Default Moving this weekend
Lived here twenty nine years. Been packing and going through stuff for several weeks now. Still seems like a lot left to do. Dreading it, but will be good when done. Bigger house, yard, and garage.

House we are in now is 1400 sq, 1/4 acre yard. New one is 2k sq with .5 acre yard. We have a total of five kids and fifteen grandchildren so when we all get together that's a small crowd.

Definitely thinking about downsizing, but hate the thought of moving. The acreage and home size are pretty crazy for the two of us, but I may just get another couple tractor attachments and die here

Many moons ago, helped a workmate move. He was a reloader. He had about 1500lb of block lead

He also had inherited a full size metal lathe from his dad's machine shop.

I got some moving estimates a couple of months ago - $32,000 to move a 4 bedroom house from CA to KY.

For that kind of money I can sell/give away everything I have and buy all new stuff on the other end.

Just moved w down size @~30%. Two separate dates for old house with ~1+ mo in between.

During that time it was a trip to dump, trip to house w small stuff in bins.

That’s exactly what I did when I moved from CA to LA four years ago. Sold all furniture except moms piano. Loaded what remained into two uhaul containers that sat in storage for a few months in Louisiana while I searched for a new home near the grandkids.

Only issue is I need to go to the store for simple items like a screw when doing projects because most everything from the garage went to the dump. All in all, it cut the cost and hassle of the move; I wouldn’t change a thing.
