A lady at our church came down with a respiratory infection. Was in the hospital for months, on and off a ventilator. She eventually pulled through.
There is hope.

To "hold" "uplift" or "lift" someone up in prayer means whenever you happen to THINK about that person, you pray for their particular need.

If someone asks me to remember them in prayer, what he (or she) is requesting is that as often as his (or her) name happens to come into my mind, that I silently (or openly) pray for them.

Maybe they're going through a hard time (like Sarah) and need God's strength to see them through. God reminds us to pray for that person when they need it the most, so that then afterwards, they can look back and see those times when God carried them through the most difficult part of the trial they're facing (or went through), and joyfully know someone was praying for them.

I don't know why God wants to "partner" with frail and sinful humanity, but He does. And He wants each of us to care for one other enough to pray whenever someone truly needs it the most.

I'm not a doctor, and I of course don't know many details about her condition, but my wife who worked in hospitals for over 30 years says that getting someone off a ventilator often comes with the kinds of advances and setbacks she has been experiencing. Lets just hope things keep getting better with fewer setbacks.
