We are getting pounded right now.
It looks like we got 4" in the last 3 hours and it's snowing like a mofo right now.
The wind is a blowin' too. It's almost a blizzard!

Hamburg, Orchard Park, and East Aurora are right next to each other going west to east. That's the way the snow band is set up right now, right off the lake.

Friends live north of Watertown NY, in Clayton ( Rt 81 ) and they have to deal with lake effect snow. Ken said you look at the weather radar and figure out if you have a 4 hour window to get your stuff done. The snow belt moves like a snake

Hunker Down
We got a little over 12 inches last night plus wind and bitter cold. Was minus 7 with a wind chill of minus 30 when I went to work this morning. That is unreal cold for this part of the country. I have lived here for 12 years and not seen anything near this previously.

I had a really tight window to get home today. I actually left 15 minutes early, and it turned out to be the right move..
It's bad out there right now, and it started to get that way just after I got here.

I think I should have been to go out in the storm/blizzard yesterday. I had a good reason, at least to me. The dogs at the rescue needed to be fed and clean places to sleep since they won't be going outside for any length of time for the next few days.

I have lived in this area my whole life and I don't remember anything close to this. The closest I remember is the blizzard of '82. I could not have been this cold though.

We were supposed to get 6-8" of snow in Akron last night, but the temps stayed up and we just got a bit of rain.

Then the bottom dropped out and we had a 54-degree temperature swing during the day today. No wonder it's windy!
