My computer went to hell 11 days ago. Just got back online. If this upgrade outlasts me (something less than 15 years) the repairs will have ended up costing me about $1.00 per day... So not too bad Was worth the wait but man what a long 11 days!

Spent the time cleaning the house and reading old magazines. Mostly hunting and computer magazines from 25 years ago. Except that one January 1971 issue of FRONTEIR TIMES. What a magazine! Real stories of people from the 1800's that I never heard before. Kool as hell. Read every word.

Canyon Diablo Train Robbery was a strange read. Criminals be dumb

In another story a prospector up in the Tetons got lost in a blizzard and found a lake rich in gold. Barely made it back to town alive with a quarter million dollars worth. Attacked by two different groups of bandits trying to get back to town and was shot to pieces. Nobody ever found the lake again, including him.

A friend was clearing out his dad's estate and there were a ton of True West, Frontier Times, Desert, and other mags from the '50's to about 1975 or so. The cool thing, as you stated, were the first-person interviews and articles by people who actually lived in the old west, and were telling their stories of their own experiences in the 19th century. Not second hand or third hand speculation, but real, 'I was there' experiences. Very interesting stuff.
