I'm 40

That happened fast. Turned 40 yesterday.

I went on blood pressure meds this year.

Mrs. has to die her hair constantly now to hide the grey.

My truck is old enough to vote now. Ditto plenty of possessions/clothes I have.

Need to update my prescription glasses. Gotta get up close and squint to read even with my glasses on now.

So are thoughts about your own mortality and thoughts about people from the past a midlife crisis thing that will go away, or is it just something you live with but get numb to eventually from here on out?

I went on BP meds back in 2007.
Had covid pretty bad in 2020 (hospitalized 11 days), BP came way down,
now back in the 135/70 range for the past 2 years.
No bp meds.
About to turn 70 in a few days.

BP meds, bifocals need new scrip, meds to prevent essential tremors, knees hurt and can't walk some days, 100% VA rating, going out with a girl in her late 20s tonight for NYE..... I'd say I need a new corvette to do this midlife crisis the right way.

Will be 45 in a couple of weeks, too. Doesn't get easier.

I have a sweatshirt I still wear that is roughly 36 years old. It's tattered, but sentimental to me.

I hit 40 22 years ago and still not on any medications. Fingers crossed.

I've read that a man's best, most productive years are between 30 and 50, and

for me it was pretty much true. I got better financially in my 50's but had to

give up hard core weight training due to aged joints. Also needed glasses to

read at age 45-ish, and now need them all the time.

for me it was pretty much true. I got better financially in my 50's but had to

give up hard core weight training due to aged joints. Also needed glasses to

read at age 45-ish, and now need them all the time.

I also have a pair of boots and my college soccer cleats. Feeling a little old right now.

58 here and as much as I loved 40, I've gotten much wiser over those 18 years. Don't think I'd go back if I had to give up everything I've learned.

Take care of yourself. 40 is easy, but if you don’t have a good routine to take care of your body, you go downhill fast.
