When I smoked regularly back in the 70's, I lived in N.H. and the weed we got up there wasn't the best quality. Stories were told about Panama Red and Acapulco Gold, but much like Bigfoot and the Lochness monster... Grainy polaroid's, at best. The average weed we smoked back then posed a real risk of eye injuries and burns from exploding seeds and such.

I had the opportunity to buy a bag of Panama Red once while on a cruise. Hired a taxi driver bring me to get some and we ended up in what looked like a warzone. $5 for what look like about a quarter oz? Since we were close, on the way back I asked him to go by the Panama Canal so I could cross it off my bucket list and somewhere on the way, I misplaced that bag of weed? Back to the warzone and another $5, mission accomplished. When we finally got back to the ship, Wife was crying, thinking I'd been kidnapped or something? Driver was super cool and we stopped by his friend's house on the way back, which doubled as a bird sanctuary. Good times, great people but a risk today's generation doesn't appreciate.

You youngun's don't know how good you have it.

I am really surprised at the number of people that state they do not smoke or oppose those that do in this thread.

My only guess is it is generational because what they were taught about it while growing up? Hell, even I was taught it was bad but I still started smoking it 36 years ago.

wtf...just saying that makes me feel old.

I don't know how generational it is. I grew up with it all around me. I have tried it on occasion in my younger years. I don't like the taste, the smell, the (then) risk of arrest. I know how many drinks or beers, or glasses of wine I can have before I have had too much. I couldn't judge with pot. The first experience with it EVER, I was unaware that what I smoked had hash in it and it fkd me up enough to have no interest for many years. Tried it back in the 80s a couple times and just didn't care for it. THEN I realized the people I hung out with that were doing it a lot, were a mess. Some I am still marginally in touch with, have not advanced their lives beyond where they were in the 80s. One of them never left his parent's house. They have passed on and he has no job, and no motivation to get one. He steals from people and pawns stolen items so he can buy more pot. He burned his house down a few years back and I'm guessing he's living in a dumpster somewhere now. Out of the 6 or 7 people I knew that still smoke it, not ONE of them has done shit with their lives. I'm not saying I'm a success story, but I'm at least motivated to keep trying.

My uncle grows and he calls it purple crack. I haven't smoked since high school but i remember the smell and the stuff uncle was growing smelled so so good. In harvest time you could smell it soon as you got out the vehicle.

In my experience the ones who make the biggest deal about not smoking it are the midnight tokers.

The only ones that seem to be opposed to it in this thread are "Don Rickles" and "Giraffe". I don't consider that to be a lot.

Myself, I admit that when the funny smelling hand-rolled cigarettes went around at frat parties, I did NOT always say no, but it was never my thing. As with many others here, I don't give a shit what anyone else smokes.

FWIW: Recreational weed recently became legal in NJ where I live. I voted in favor of it, but have no interest in smoking or eating it myself. I would say that the overwhelming majority of the people I interact with IRL feel exactly the same way.

Just not my thing man, but I am working on a beer as I type this, so judge me as you will.

I've never smoked weed. I don't care if you do, or if anyone else does.

These braindeads that smoke it never have seemed to grasp the fact the smell that goes with it sticks to them like a skunk. Work, restaurant, store, everyone can smell it and you're not hiding a thing.

I guess the best move to avoid obvious detection is to get high first, then take a damn shower and put on new clothes
