I looked and went w Kamado Joe..

1. 20% better price
2. Flexibility of cooking racks

Both grills can use the same accessories also. Ie egg griddle works on Kamado.
( shop around so ya don’t pay the big green egg tax of 20%……)

Kamado was recently rolled up by another company so still in business

I've had both. gave the green egg to my daughter and have two KJs. Much the same performance, but the Kamado Joe comes with stuff you have to buy separately from BGE.

She'll be happy with either. FYI, the Lowe's is an older version. The newer ones come with a different chimney (no big deal), and a spring loaded hinge that makes opening and closing much easier and keeps the lid from accidentally falling closed - and breaking. To me, that makes the increased price worth it.

Just my opinion.

Save your money and go with the Komado. I have one and it works just as well as the BGE.

Right there with you, previous grill i cobbled together from parts of old grills people threw away. That one lasted 10 years easy.

Every now and then, WalMart will mark the large Komado down't to $299 or close to it. I've found a lot of times, they had been mislabeling it and had to give it out at the cheaper price, too.

There's absolutely no difference between that and the BGE, except the BGE can be purchased in a larger size, and KaJo comes with the stand and a couple of other accessories.
