He passed away on January 3rd very unexpectedly. We had a beautiful service for him and it was packed. I just thought I'd let you know because he sure loved BSing with you all. Please keep our family in your prayers. This has been the worst pain to ever go through.

Much love and godspeed daddio.

I was just thinking about PMing again to see how things were going. A couple of months ago he said things weren't good. He didn't say why but I assumed it was his impending divorce.
He was a bit crazy but mostly harmless and he liked to have fun. Godspeed Bill.

May he rest in peace
William Dell York III
April 27, 1964 ~ January 3, 2020 (age 55)

Tribute
William Dell York III – known to all his family and friends as simply “Bill” – went to be with our Lord on Friday, January 3rd, 2020.

Bill was born April 27th, 1964 in Houston, TX, to William Dell York Jr. and Karen Gayle Schmidt York. His childhood was spent in Houston, Hurst, and Friendswood, TX. He graduated from Friendswood High School in 1982. His accounting degree was earned at University of Houston. Bill married his high school sweetheart Rhonda Kay Linley on December 15, 1984. After working in the accounting field for several years, he was asked by his grandfather to take charge of KCTA, a family owned and operated Christian radio station. He has faithfully operated KCTA among other businesses for his family for over 30 years.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife Rhonda Kay York of 35 years; cherished daughters Ashlyn Blair Porter (Cotton), Corpus Christi and Gracie Helen Dinsdale (Seth), Corpus Christi; grandchildren Emma Blair Kay, Evelyn Belle and William Gage Porter, and Wade William Dinsdale. He is also survived by his loving mother and stepfather, Karen Schmidt Stokes and Roy E Stokes, College Station, TX. And his three doting sisters, Terri Lynn Davis (Lee), Portland, TX, Julie Ann Martin (John), Denver, CO and Tammi Renee Mager (Andy), Denver, CO. Bill is also survived by many close aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, all so very fond of their Uncle Bill, and in addition, good friends too numerous to count.

Bill is welcomed to Heaven by his dad, William Dell York, Jr., grandparents, Eleanor Schmidt, Alvin and Esther Schmidt, William Dell, Sr. and Patricia York.

Bill’s zest for life was contagious, he was affectionately referred to as “Smiling Bill” or “Wild Bill.” His good nature endeared him to all who knew him. He was teased a bit for his famous laugh, which was often imitated, but never duplicated. He truly lit up a room when he entered and relished bringing joy to others and making them laugh. Bill was surrounded by many true and loyal friends, because he was a true and loyal friend.

Bill believed in working hard and playing hard. He had a strong business mind, work ethic, and worked diligently for his family. Bill’s love for music began early, starting with teaching himself songs on the guitar as a teenager. He didn’t just love music, he loved LOUD music. He wanted everyone to be able to enjoy it and you could hear him coming a mile away. He provided the music at the ski canals from his boat and his motorcycle stereo could be heard all over Corpus. He could name any song or band from just a couple chords. Everything he loved, he wanted to share with others.

Bill enjoyed many water sports from the time he could walk, from surfing, to boating, to skiing, to scuba diving. He and Rhonda had many adventures together; they were both fearless, riding motorcycles, snow and water skiing, driving their toys, scuba diving any chance they got. It was so important to him to make sure anyone with him was having a good time, even over himself. Patiently he taught many friends and family to ski and wake board. Bill lightheartedly lamented if he couldn’t have sons, he would raise his girls like sons. They can both hunt, shoot, play pool, ride motorcycles and mow the lawn as good as any boy. Bill was overjoyed when they gave him wonderful sons-in-law with whom he shared deep mutual respect. His four grandchildren were the light of his life and he felt truly blessed.

Bill shared his beliefs and opinions with the same bold conviction in which he held them, wanting others to know the Lord. Many of his friends have shared he was always bold in his faith, yet they never felt he was judgmental of them. Bill loved the Lord and grieved over his sin, but ultimately knew Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection covered him as it does all of us who trust in Him.

Bill faithfully raised his children to love Jesus and so continues a legacy to know and honor the Lord. In this faith, we have blessed assurance that we will spend eternity with our Bill in indescribable paradise, at the right hand of Jesus.

Isaiah 66:2b “This is the one I esteem: he who is humble and contrite in spirit and trembles at my word.”

God be with you and comfort your every thought. Bill is esteemed in Heaven as a child of the King.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 10, 2020 at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Seaside Memorial Park.To send flowers to William's family, please visit our floral section.
