40-50 years ago we could get away with not reporting some on-the-books contract income but today, being computerized, the IRS knows every dollar that goes out from company X and who received it.

This happened to me last year, I got a company check for $6,500 from selling some of my machinery. No way was I gonna try not reporting that.
