"Realistic" Bucket list cars
The other thread about buying something new has led me to this. The car bucket list.
In looking at mine, I have managed to check off a few of the boxes but have a few to go. There are of course the unobtainable, the McLaren F1, F-40, etc, but some of them are within reach. I'm sure that this will be added to as I think about it, but what I came up with so far: 1.) 1987 Buick GNX ...And it will never leave the number 1 spot. I have over the years come so close to them. I have tried to buy them on 3 different occasions but something has stopped it every time. I may at some point substitute a "regular" Grand National as a placeholder, but the GNX is the goal. Honorable mention here also goes out to the Monte SS Aero Coupe 2.) Gen 2 Viper GTS. Since the first time I saw 1 running around at the Indy Speedway as the 1996 pace car, I have wanted one. 3.) 997.1 GT3/GT3 RS. The RS may fall in the not-realistic category but the regular GT3 is not that far out of reach. It took 1 lap around VIR to convince me that I needed 1 in the garage someday. 4.) 1969 Camaro Z/28 It must be a Z/28. I like the SS/RS, but the bucket list car is a hugger orange Z/28 |

Agree with 2-4. Buick GNX and Monte SS Aero Coupe do nothing for me.

I've been pretty much driving my bucket list cars for decades. (Old Pontiac GTO's)
I just like the styling, power, and practicality of them. Comfortable, room for luggage, reliable, lots of luggage space for road trips. I DID want a C2 Corvette for over 50 years, but ended up with my '61 and now prefer the solid axle cars. I think the two best looking Corvettes are the '56-'57 and the '63 SWC. My unattainable bucket list car? A 1911 Simplex Speed Car or a 1928 Duesenberg SSJ or a '63 Ferrari Lusso. These cars are in the multiple millions each, so no dice this time around. |

I want my 1998 Supra Turbo back, and I definitely would like a GT3 RS.
When my Z06 is paid off in about 4 years, I'll decide what's next. It'll likely be in the $200-300k range, and then will be my last forever car, as this will coincide with my likely retirement. (C9 Z06? Exotic?....not sure, too far out) |

Of the OP list I’d take the Camaro Z/28 but not in orange.
What I’d really like is a 67-72 C10/20 or K10/20. Or a 1st gen K5 Blazer. But no restomod. No LS swap. And no lowered C-notched and bagged POS. I would love one restored to factory specs. It doesn’t have to be every nut bolt and screw “ncrs style”. But in OEM trim and appearance. |

Monte SS Aero Coupe with a whopping 180 HP. Only quicker than a mini van. And they made over 6,000 of these in 1987. A real collectors item.

The G-Bodies were relatively well-made cars for their time, and reasonably stylish, compared to the rest of what was available in the mid-80s. Speed was not really a factor in their appeal other than the GN/GNX. A small part of me would like a White 87-88 SS in stock condition, right down to the wheels. But it's not a priority right now. |

I was tuning cars during this time period, and while not fast certainly, that Monte Carlo is a pleasure to drive.....that little 305 is pretty peppy, I'm not sure how they did it, must have been torque. it would chirp the tires, and then take off...... looking at numbers they seem like true slugs...but just like my old '88 Mustang with only 225 HP, it ran pretty dang good, and had to have H rated tires up to 150 MPH, because it would do it. |

The 1996/1997 Viper GTS, blue with white stripes was always a car that I wanted. I may end up owning one. I already owned one dream car which was a Ferrari Testarossa.
The only other car that I possibly could afford (but won't as the wife would kill me) is a Lambo Huracan.. I rather have an Aventador but decent ones go for $400k+++ while you can get a Huracan around $200k or so. Some McLarens would also be in the range that I could afford but those would be out of warranty and I don't think that I would want to own a McLaren without a warranty. All my other dream cars are out of my financial reach.. RIMAC Nevera, Pininfarina Battista (really same car as Nevera but even better looking). Another car I wouldn't mind owning would be a Lambo Murcielago. |

Speaking of, the other one to add to the list would be a 3rd gen 1LE Camaro. I've owned a 3rd Gen Camaro and a 4th Gen Firehawk but never had my hands on a 1LE. https://barrettjacksoncdn.azureedge....nt_3-4_Web.jpg |

I had a third gen Camaro IROC Z in red. While fun, it was a dog with horrible fit and finish.

I'd like to have my 68 dodge Charger R/T with the 440 in it back.
Not a pic of the one that I had but it's twin. |

I guess it's a sign of getting older, finding the simple joy in things, no longer constantly in search of making something "better," but I'm appreciating mostly-stock or at least stock-appearing vehicles now. |
