You are spot on with your observations, but I disagree with your conclusion that ISIS can't be defeated with "The old ways of fighting terrorism" since it won't work today. ISIS is mobile, but we know of several cities they occupy/operate from. Level those cities with bombs and kill all the inhabitants.

There of course will be people who object to such an atrocity, but war is war. Keep levelling the cities where ISIS may be. Eventually the local population will get fed up with being bombed and will turn on ISIS. If they don't turn on ISIS, just keep bombing until ISIS is decimated.

That still leaves the problem with ISIS members already in other Counries. To curtail their terrorism in those Countries, do what the Russians did in Lebanon. The terrorists always seem to get killed doing their dirty deeds, so find their relatives and kill them. They're likely in that Country illegally anyway. Word will get around. Liberals will likely howl at first, but their objections will cease when this strategy works.

1. Let King Saudi know the very next terrorist act WILL result in Medina completely disappearing.
