Installed my Corsa Extremes tonight... what a great setup.
Went over to a local Vette/Porsche nut's house to utilize a lift to make the swap quick/easy. The install was simple and went w/o issue. The Extremes are noticeably lighter than the stockers (Corsa says something like 5lbs)... I'd say they're close to Z06 Ti weights, but I didn't weigh or anything. The Indys and Touring are very very heavy, something like 80lbs. Tip alignment is very easy, far better than Corsa Indys which have 3 joints.
As for sound... I'm not sure how Corsa does it, but the mufflers are nice and mellow at idle, OEM silent at cruise, and have a great loud sound at part-throttle north of 2500 rpms and WOT. Seeing as the design is basically a straight-pipe with a muffler on the side I guess vacuum or something pulls the sound waves in at lower rpm. I was suspect of Corsa's no-drone claim, but it's 100% true. I'm very very happy w/ my decision, she sounds like a sports car now. If I had to describe the sound it's basically Borla Stinger tone with a more refined note to it and no drone. For years people have been asking for Stingers w/o the drone and Corsa has delivered. I'll probably break down and buy AR headers for her one day, but for now this will do. Just a small portion of the garage setup All done Back home in my garage ~Brian

Very nice exhaust for sure. I used to have on the Pace Cars when stock and until last May. No drone stock and no drone with 700+ RWHP with my AR Headers with no cats. Those mufflers on the extreme look similar to the Pace Cars and I would of put those on if they had a true 3" exhaust

Extreme muffler is a bit smaller than the pace/indy, plus it is just sort of hanging off to the side vs. the pace/indy where the exhaust must flow 100% through.
I doubt another 1/2" of pipe would make any difference even on your car. I mean ECS and A&A have tested 700 rwhp cars with no mufflers vs. OEM Ti mufflers and only shown a 7-10 rwhp drop. |

Look good Brian. I'm looking for something with a little more meat than the Ti's but the Extreme's would be over the top for the cruiser.

Anybody in VA Beach area weld titanium? I haven't been able to find anyone up here. The only manufacturing in the DC area is hot air and BS.

Hahaha... Va Speed told me they could do it, but I may have been talking to a former front desk kid.

BTW: I bought a 914/6 when they first came out. It was a blast to drive at the time....until a Metro bus in downtown DC made a right turn from the second lane and drove over the back of it. |

Very cool exhaust, love how the mufflers are off to the side, I would love to hear them in person.
If you ever find someone let me know!

Oh... and I showed the pics/setup to a buddy who's a motorsports engineer and he explained that they work just like the helmholtz resonators you see on the intake tracts of newer cars. Basically it's a tuned reflective chamber that cancels out certain soundwaves... in this case the drone frequency. I was curious how it worked, but once he made the comparison to a modern intake tract w/ the resonator it clicked. No vacuum or anything like that.

Drove around just now for 45 min at lunch w/ the top down for the first time with them... they sound great. They do have Corsas infamous "motorboat" sound at idle, but it's acceptable for the zero drone cruise and nice sounds the rest of the time.
Plus I still have the stock h-pipe in place which exacerbates the sound.
