I am a common dood, never fancy, mostly due to my very, very poor upbringing.

I have EXQUISITE taste in cars and scotch, but I will dine where I see value, seeking value allows me to amass great collectible items.

BTW, was at dinner at TR with a dood, maybe a relative, may be a $B$, he is good with it, and also picked up the tab, it was his turn, so I have no complaints.

I have been to Mortons and RC a hundred times back in my corporate days, IMO they are both fluff and overpriced, I see no value in any meal that takes over an hour, interrupted often to clean the bread crumbs off the tablecloth.

How can you miss the interesting point of your own story?

1) Guy buys to-go and doesn't separately tip on that tab, but does so on a tab for in-house service.

2) Gets a call from the restaurant about not placing an individual tip on the to-go tab by the manager, who seems snippy. Pulled phone # from rez.

You: Gosh, I hope I left a tip on that first tab. There are very few places where I don't tip.

If I left a $25 tip on a $106 bill, and some asshole called me and asked why I didn't leave a tip, I believe I would be, shall we say, less than pleasant to said asshole.

Generally, I don't tip on take out. The tip is for the server, and they didn't serve me, why would I tip them?

I did make exceptions to that during the pandemic for some of my favorite places that I knew were struggling.

We used to almost daily. I mean to the point that a half dozen local places had our drinks brought to the table as we were walking in. And we would give christmas gifts (cash) to a few servers we befriended over the years. Still friends with a few.

I had no clue either, but allegedly it’s a separate automatic tip for the kitchen donkeys etc. I guess everyone gets a tip now, maybe even there is one hidden in there for the landlord too. Blows my mind, but, California…
