Sorry, this tired old internet relic is childish drivel.

Congress, and specifically the house, controls the purse strings.

Clinton actively fought AGAINST balancing the budget during the 1990s.

Wrong. Presidents only make recommendations and sign final budgets. Congress and the House have the power. The 2007 budget was the last produced by a Republican Congress.

Furthermore, the graph is clearly LABELED with "Whitehouse estimate" and "CBO estimate."

R-E-A-D-I-N-G is fundamental.

So why then is the 08 budget listed as republican? Can't have it both ways.

Congress never would have had the opportunity to approve the 09 spending had the Bush not submitted the budget.

The graph is bullshit written to make democrats look like the party thats out of control with the spending. The reality is both parties are guilty.

Christ. It's not. It's part of the gray bracket of spending that is not a projection. The green dividing line is clearly before 2008.

Wrong again. The graph shows the truth. Both are out of control and producing deficits, but the Democrats have in FACT been the worst offenders.

It is a FACT that Clinton fought against the balanced budget.

It is a FACT that after they got out of control, the Republican Congress peaked it's horrible deficit spending at over $40 Billion in 2004 at the height of TWO wars and had it back down to around $160 Billion in their final budget, before democrats took back congress and reversed the trend. We were on a path to the budgets the Republicans produced in the mid 1990s, but sadly that never happened given the change in leadership.

Finally, we have all continually blamed Bush for his role. He deserves it. But the reality is he was the worst culprit of the party that is the least guilty of out of control spending.

It is also a FACT that Democrat social welfare programs are almost entirely responsible for deficit spending. Obama's record deficit producing budget with a 1.5 trillion deficit can all be traced to around 1.2 trillion in shortfalls between medicare/social security expenditures and the taxes that fund them, and our interest expense on debt. The military spending (higher than any year under Bush) and all other discretionary spending is actually right in line with the tax revenue collected that funds discretionary spending.

The reason you came unglued was because I showed how Bush *appropriated* funds to conduct wars and pay Haliburton/KBR/Blackwater/Xe etc ... which eventually blew up in our faces and about the time Bush & Cheney were making their getaway ...

I think I took a ban for that one ... (you were all in right-wing hysteria by then ...)
