Default Whoa!

Hold on, Alec! Put the gun down, the scene's over. The director yelled "CUT" five minutes ago!

Today (Friday 2/23/2024) was day 2 of the manslaughter trial of Hannah Gutierrez, the armorer on the set of the western "Rust." She is, IMO, better known as the fall guy.

A "circle jerk" of finger pointing, Baldwin points at the director and armorer, the armorer points at the set manager/prop guy, who points back at Baldwin....

This whole horrible accident was a result of trying to save a dime and a bunch of amateurs trying to fake it till they make it.

As much as I despise Baldwin, ultimately he is not responsible. The armorer on the other hand is. He probably didn't know the difference between a dummy round and a real one. I can't even imagine that he would for any reason have checked.

Baldwin grew up around guns. In fact his father was a firearms instructor!

Protocols and security was a joke on that movie set, a lot more people than that female armorer had access to both ammo and guns.

Baldwin was a big shot producer of that movie, that makes him very high on the pecking order!

This is very common and has been talked/typed a lot, do try to keep up!

Why are you using a gun grabber style talking point?

The ultimate responsibility rests with the one who pulls the trigger

PERIOD

PERIOD
In this case, I’d put the blame on the Producer. He/she make the decisions of who handles everything on the set. If Baldwin was the producer, he is ultimately responsible.

If a 3 YO gets a gun and shoots-who is responsible ? The toddler or the parent ?

Clearly you are NOT a gun owner or shooter/hunter.

The GOLDEN RULE of firearm safety is to ALWAYS check the firearm to verify its loaded/unloaded status and to NEVER point it at ANYTHING you do not intend to shoot.

Baldwin cocked that SAA past all 3 clicks, to the 4th 'ready' position, pointed it at the director, who was NOT in front of any camera, and pulled the trigger. Saying he is not responsible is just ignorant.

You want to compare a 3 YO to an adult?

Sorry, not falling for an apples & oranges scenario

You would literally pull the trigger on a firearm that you did not either load or intentionally clear? I don't even take an arm from someone when I don't know the status. Clear it while I watch, and then I'll clear it again.

His lackadaisical attitude on safety as the manager of the set could be easily seen as criminal.

Agreed. This was not some terrible tragedy that happened while filming. The cameras weren't even rolling. They were discussing the next shot and crybaby Alec got impatient with the two and decided to get cute. This was 100% preventable and the ultimate responsibility lies with Baldwin.
