Juliette Binoche in “Flight of the Red Balloon.” ... and Red Balloon (Ballon Rouge, Le) (1956) |

The second one down, on bottom, made some kind of come back in the DC region about 25 years ago....and I never understood any story line....
the ex is a liberal commie, and she didn't either...supposedly.... to ME it was a very strange off the wall flick.... |

The original was the kind screenplays of psuedo-dark (noir) screenplays that came out of Europe as a *happy to forget Hitlers holocaust* ...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Red_Balloon Throughout the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s and early 1990s this film was popular in elementary classrooms throughout the United States and Canada and where Reagan introduced it to American television when he was an actor .... It won an Oscar for writing the best original screenplay in 1956 so yes that would be Lib and could never be conservative although it takes from conservative religious views ... *The Red Balloon may be the most seamless fusion of capitalism and Christianity ever put on film. A young boy invests in a red balloon, the love of which places him on the outside of society. The balloon is hunted down and killed on a barren hilltop–think Calvary–by a mob of cruel boys. The ending, a bizarre emotional sucker punch, is straight out of the New Testament. Thus is investment rewarded–with Christian transcendence or, at least, an old-fashioned Assumption. This might be sweet. Or it might be a very cynical reduction of the primary impulse to religious faith.* |

I have absolutely NO respect for the Hollywoodenheads...... in all honesty, the last movie I seen was 'The Sopranos' CD set..... only because I knew/met some folks over the years.... the 'made guy' made good to me, and mine, so I got NO complaints, he went outta his way to do so also.... |
