Mosin Nagant's a bargain no more
I've been watching the price on these creep up over the last few years as the supply has slowly diminished. I have a few very nice examples, and I guess I'm not surprised that they have passed the $300 dollar mark for ones that aren't that great. Neat old rifles.

I never jumped on that bandwagon, I kind of wish I did, but I've been holding out for a really clean KRAG or M38 Swedish Mauser for an eternity. I REALLY want a KRAG, but most of them are roached out, sporterized, cut down, etc.

I wish I bought more than 1 new in the wrap sealed carton Enfield .303s for $100 each awhile back too. I recently removed the wrapping, cleaned the cosmoline and got $700.00 for the piece.

Only have one Mosin its a carbine! Was given to me about ten years ago.
It came back from Korea as a war souvenir and when the man died ( a officer) his wife gave it to me! Shot it a few times it makes a lot of noise and kicks a bit! |

Is it Russian or another country? China made the "Type 53". It's cool that you have one without import stamps. If it is Russian there are two arsenals. Izhevsk and Tula. The Izzy guns have a triangle with an arrow on top of the receiver, and Tula has a star with an arrow mark in the same location. In so far as rarity, if it is a 1944 Tula M44, it is pretty highly prized. Still not crazy low production (approx 100,000), but the factory was overrun by the Nazi's, and all subsequent production of the M44 carbines went to the Izhevsk factory.
