Uncle Bob's Storage, Norfolk, VA...any experience with them?

Good Morning everyone,

Well it is time for our PCS to Langley AFB. So tomorrow, I am driving from Eglin AFB (Fort Walton Beach area), FL to Norfolk, VA...the plan is to drive the Charger SRT8 and place it in storage (enclosed, climate control) for about two weeks and then fly back here. The next week, o/a the 19th, the wife and I will head out again on the drive, me driving the CTS-V and the wife her Jeep SRT8.

My question is about the storage...I found Uncle Bob's Storage on line last night doing some research. Interesting, the storage stay will be free because I will be there less than a month and they have great specials (the corporate office reservations confirmed that)...they said it happens all the time...sounds like a good company, just wondering if anyone has experience...

I am leaving FL tomorrow, staying in Sumter, SC and finishing the drive the next, and then fly back here on Friday morning.

Hey Scott,

I don't know anything about Uncle Bob's Storage but I wanted to say welcome to the area. I work on Langley and live close to the base. I work swings and my days off vary but if I am available I can give you a lift or help, let me know, I could PM you my numbers.

I once lived in Newport News and used Uncle Bob's Storage off J. Clyde Morris Blvd and Jefferson Ave when I was working down here in NC. I only needed to store some stuff for about two months before my house was built. Needless to say, some thieves broke in to my unit and about three others through the back fence. I had insurance so I was covered but those bitches got my air compressor, some hand tools, corvette wheels, and some other stuff. That was in 2003. Just be careful with those guys. They had no video cameras or tapes that the police could view. I did file a police report and was fully reimbursed by USAA.

will e-mail my son who is currently in the gulf. His car is at my house. He left it in (paid) storage on his last trip to the gulf. They were suppose to take care of it and give it run time and keep the bettery tended. He made it around the corner from the storage area last time before the battery died.

I do not believe that name rings a bell , but let me ask him.....I'm damn sure he remembers

Dam, that is what I was afraid off...not sure the Uncle Bob's in Norfolk area is going to be any better. Hmmm....appreciate the intel.

How safe is it to park a vehicle at the Norfolk airport?

I am just looking to drop it off and store for about a week or so until I can get up their with the other vehicles and get settled in...

Did you check with MWR at Langely? They might have a long term storage on base where you could park the car for a while. The Navy base has a long term storage and short term storage off of Hampton BLVD.

I did leave a car at the airport for about two weeks while on a ship in Puerto Rico, it was dirty but untouched.

That is always doable if, when I move to the area, I get to drive the vette around...

Heck, that deal would help me convince the wife that the next ride needs to be the Z06...

I found a storage unit, recommended by a member on another forum...I will be getting into the area mid-day, so will have some time to check it out...

I did get a responce back from my son, He didn't know anything bad or good about them. Good news is they weren't the ones to screw him over

I have plenty of room in my garage if you're not comfortable with what you see. It can hang out in the A/C with the Z's! If you get this in time, shoot me a PM with a cell #.

Sorry I missed this post today. My ride is in a storage unit in Chesapeake...I am sitting in the hotel in Norfolk, fly out in the AM and wife and I will be back in the area on the 25th to complete the move...
