Prayer question....

Since our son passed away I have gone to bed every night praying myself to sleep for him and when I wake up too......one of the prayers is the Hail Mary and something is confusing to me about it....

Mary had Jesus who was Gods son right......so why in the prayer does it say
"Holy Mary mother of God" ?

This is my life now......not great

Protestants pray directly to God, Mary is never involved.

No expert here, but with the holy trinity thing going on, aren't God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit one and the same, thus God?

Mary = only one born without original sin, hence the mother of God. Others have explained the Holy Trinity pretty well here also.

This thread is heart breaking... I hope prayer brings you some comfort, no matter if it's a little or a lot.

My sister was killed in '91, both of my parents were never the same, a portion of my mother's heart and spirit died that day too. We think of my sister every day.

Please know that despite the tragedy of losing your son, you are not alone, and he is not alone.

the vatican teaching that Mary was sinless has no basis in the Bible.

Luke 1:47 And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.

Mary refers to God as her Saviour, and only sinners need a Saviour.

What I don't understand about religion is why God allows priests to diddle little kids.

Because we live in a broken and evil world. God sent Jesus to save us but not everyone accepts his grace. So the world remains broken and evil.

the song was about a dream he had about his mother, Mary..who reassured him that everything would be ok with the Beatles break up.
