Will do
I didn't know that. It makes sense with that big blower/fan thing on top of the flywheel though circulating air I had to repair my twin cyl. air compressor the other day and took the cover off it. I had planned on leaving it off. Better re-install it, too Thanks.Talk about something getting hot in a hurry. I couldn't even get my hands near the motor after one cycle. |

I thought this would be a fun comparison. Less than a minute to tape and hand apply to see if there would be a difference.
A few strokes with compound and a wax top coat vs a spray wax out of the bottle. A dude nearby has a Snapper Comet (early 70's)just like the one in Forrest Gump. I'm trying my best not to get excited and make a stupid purchase. It even still has a nice seat that is impressive with no tears. $100 If I had a warehouse/steel building and $$$ that thing would be packed with FB Marketplace junk! |

Fun test with the paint, but, well, it's long gone. I wouldn't spend a lot of time trying to bring it back. If the thing can be brought back to life and run safely, I'd then consider disassembling the deck and other pieces and having them blasted and painted, assuming that's just surface rust and the deck is still solid. That would be neat, especially if you could find reproduction stickers for it.

I agree that paint is beyond wasting 5 minutes on. I'd sand it down and tape off the bits don't need paint and buy some cheap rattle can paint and have at it. Tire shine for the tires.

Another little test for fun.
Dude on yt used CLR (not in the spray bottle like mine) and a green scrub pad on a rusty (surface rust) car just to try to make it look a little better. It turned out pretty good! It gave me an idea to try some stuff. My CLR is in a spray bottle vs the little bottle like you get in the store. He may have even diluted it 30/70 with water. You will also find other concoctions on the www. Dawn, CLR, Vinegar, water, etc...combinations. I guess, some type surfactant, something acidic, water combo will work. I sprayed each of these 3 and let is soak for a minute and then wiped with only a paper towel. No scrubbing, no brushes, just the paper towel. Pretty impressive with no elbow grease involved. I may try one more round with white vinegar, dawn, water combo. |

Scored a turntable today for $1.00 in working condition. I bypassed their sale yesterday...should have gone to it. The elderly lady said she sold almost everything she had. Must have been good stuff at a good price.
