Why me

I'm the opposite....Guess you're referring to my last pullover when I used the striped median as my personal lane & flew past everyone....Including a cop that was in front of a large truck that I didn't see until it was too late.

The cop was cool & the judge dismissed my case

Everyday I see idiots on their phone while driving. A lot of times they're worse than drunks drivers.

Anyone driving slower than me is an asshole. Anyone driving faster than me is an idiot. Old people driving Buicks are worse than both of those.

What really chaps my hide is someone who drives as fast as they need to, just so they can cut in front of you and abruptly make a right turn the next second. It doesn’t matter if there is a mile of empty pavement behind you, they just have to ace you out for some reason. Few are rarely successful doing so to me, short of an accident being the end result.

Let's talk round abouts. The asshats in IA don't understand the concept of get in and get out. I sat behind some jerk who waited for all the traffic to stop turning onto the road we were exiting before they turned into the round about. THEN the )(*%)(#U% stopped for traffic coming into the area when we had the right of way. I swear if I didn't have the HC and had the H2 still, there would have been a piece of shit RAV4 with MN plates stuck to my front grill.
Jerk Offs.

For on ramps, let's do 35 and try to merge into traffic going 65. I have learned in the last year, around Cedar Rapids IA it is mandatory to go 10 MPH below the speed limit to piss off any normal driving person.

If the light isn't red, you have the legal right to enter the intersection. Not doing so is just plain dumb. This type of behavior disrupts traffic flow. Traffic engineers expect, on average, at least two cars to turn left in an unprotected left and heavy opposing traffic.

The point I was making is sitting in an intersection exposes one to a risk of being t-boned by crossing traffic. I don’t give a rats ass about legal rights or if it disrupts traffic flow, I know I’m going to make the light either way, my priority concern is ensuring my own safety. If someone is irritated that I drive this way, all I can offer is next time they should be in front of me.

MICHIGAN VEHICLE CODE (EXCERPT)
Act 300 of 1949
RIGHT-OF-WAY
257.649 Right of way; rules; violation as civil infraction.
Sec. 649. (1) The driver of a vehicle approaching an intersection shall yield the right of way to a vehicle that has entered the intersection from a different highway.

In other words, once you're in, you have the right of way over cross traffic in thhe next phase of the cycle.

In these situations cross traffic is just as heavy and is stopped at their red. How are they going to T-bone you?

Come on dude, quit being so obtuse and try to work with me a little bit here. I’m not worried about the good drivers who are following the laws and are generally not a problem. Please realize just because the cross traffic has the red light, doesn’t always make them *stopped* traffic.

What I am wary of is certain scenarios presented by cross traffic which could lead to disaster, such as:

~ A drunk or stoned driver who flat out blows through the red light.

~ A distracted driver, especially a younger kid busy fiddling around with their phone rather than paying attention.

~ A vehicle which has developed a mechanical issue, such as a truck which has lost its brakes.

~ A vehicle trying to escape the police in a pursuit situation.

~ A police car or other emergency vehicle responding to an emergency situation, just because they’re the *good* guys doesn’t mean they’re always a good driver.

~ Just any asshole driving like a maniac without regard to any one else around him.

Face it, some times shit happens and accidents occur. What I attempt to do is minimize my risks, and by not placing myself in a potentially dangerous situation is one of them. The chances of someone being involved in an accident while sitting in an intersection, no matter how unlikely, are still much greater than someone like me, who’s not sitting in the intersection to begin with.

Are you really that paranoid while driving, or just acting that way for this thread? If the former, you should sell your car and walk everywhere. If the latter, troll on.
