Thanks to Mills for the tutelage, allowing me to use his spray gun, and doing the hard part of painting the cage itself.
So fresh and so clean... |

Starting to look like a car again... doors reassembled/reinstalled and the roof set in place for now.
Figured out a clean way to mount to door handle rods and re-installed the weatherstripping where possible. Fire bottle and pull cables mounted. Still need to run the actual lines Nice and bright inside Nascar bars are the width of a sheet of paper from the door shell. |

Car is basically done... glass will be installed tomorrow, need to change the oil, swap on the race wheels/tires and install some rollbar padding.
Window net in place Cut up the dash to support the gauge cluster and remove any sources of glare vs. making custom brackets. Seat in and cleaned up Vettes get the chicks... neighbor's daughter likes to come over and say hello every now and then. She asked to sit in it. After about 15 seconds I hear a loud "OUT NOW! OUT NOW!" 2 year olds are bossy. Cluster in ,switch panel done and traqmate installed Longacre mirror installed Fire system plumbed and cool-shirt fully installed/wired up First nozzle sprays on the trans/diff Tubing and wiring run using OEM holes/bolts 2 more nozzles to hit legs/waist and feet Wiring for master cut-off run using OEM nutserts and a preexisting hole in the firewall. Also pictured is the fire suppression system tube running through the firewall. Fabricated brackets to support 2 of the 3 engine bay nozzles Insulated the rear tub to keep the coolshirt cooler.... cooler. |

The waxer in me wiped down the engine bay. Cleans up nice for a 10 year old 120k mile car. Cowl trim and wipers back on as well.
New windshield OEM rear glass reinstalled. Will eventually do lexan but ran out of time Gettin' there |

Check out NASA Mid Atlantic: Welcome to NASA Mid Atlantic
The next regional event I'm attending is VIR end of July. There's one at Summit Point this weekend (Hyperfest), but I'm going to run Road Atlanta with the NASA South East crew. Here's the actual registration for the event: National Auto Sport Association - nasaproracing.com It's $374 for the weekend (seems like just yesterday it was $250!), but you get 3-4 30 minsession on track per day, a full-time instructor who rides with you and multiple classroom sessions. To say it's addicting is an extreme understatement. One neat benefit of NASA is that there are multiple races over the weekend to watch... more exciting that a regular HPDE group where it's just all driving school with nothing to watch. Too many people think they need to do this and that to their cars before they can try an HPDE... no way... just make sure the brake pads have good life, you have fresh fluid and get a helmet and come enjoy. The car in stock form is way more capable than you and you'll be so overwhelmed having a blast and learning new things that you won't stress the car at all. My student at VIR in February didn't finish his Mustang project and came out in a Pontiac G6 rental! He had a blast... we were catching a new ZR1 in the truns |
