I agree except Inauguration day....that city simply can NOT handle the crowds with the morning commute, it's gridlock in traffic bad as the .gov is the same....

what pisses ME off is not so much the FED holidaze, there are too many, but all this SCHOOL crap for the teachers to catch up on the freeking usless .gov reports, so the kids get daze off school....what a joke, as it disrupts the whole damn family schedule while everything revolves around the silly schools....

A sergeant on the force here in Clay is a friend of mine, so I stop by the bank to talk to him on his d/off he sets in the lobby, slo down the crooks....so I stop by to BS.....the the topic the other day was....

about skools, walking costs...and related shit, I said I used to walk about a mile in elementary skool, 2 miles on a bike to Jr, High gr 7-9 in them daze, and then bikes were UNcool by HS so back to walking.....tried the skool bus bit for a few trips as they started to run them by the house and it was winter....took longer for the bus trip than it did to walk.....by about 20 minits....

so I was commenting that kids in this hood here, same thing I got older in, (hate to admit to growing UP).... have all the cars around the elementary skool, buses like mad, and it's even worse for the HS on the corner....

I specifically asked why the attitude change over the last 1/2 a century....

he said.....that it's a FACT, that child predators are all over the joint, which is a direct result of liberal lawyers and assorted assholes....they have more rights then the taxpayers, so we spend 40% of skool budgets on transportation, and the academic results are hurtin for certain at the same time.....

WTF sense does that make??

Federal, State and local government workers should have far more holidays than they have now. Perhaps ten times as many. They just shouldn't be paid for them.

I wonder how many government workers would want to honor MLK by taking off for a national holiday if they weren't paid for it out of the taxes collected from people who do have to work on that day.
