Rhetorical question. (I hope)

The bottom line for me is, I don't want jobs moving overseas because some individual or corporation has a keen business sense. I want these jobs to stay here. Use your extreme wealth and influence to create the jobs in THIS country.

Rhetorical question? Of course, but how would you like it if I suggested you leave off your mortgage interest deduction, or your dependent deduction, because it was "American". That's what you're asking of Romney, when you say he shouldn't have used to his business' advantage the existing tax laws and regulation.

As leader of a for profit company. His job was to use his companies size and knowledge to best turn companies around. They did that, and liquidated those that they couldn't.

As leader of this Country he will know what the business world wants to see that would cause them to re-consider doing business within the United States.

As of right now, our current labor, environmental, and tax laws create a very hostile environment for a business to hire and do business within the United States. This hostility must change if we ever want businesses to come back.

If you'd rather not fix this hostility, you might as well create government run industries, cause that's all that'll stick around.

How can you or anyone else be a liberal? Hows about sending everyone on the VB a check for a few grand since YOU are so generous. Give me a F'n break.

instead of villianizing (sp?) someone for doing what they are in the business of doing, why don't we see why it is that companies want to outsource things to other countries? Because when a company can make something overseas, ship it here, pay any import taxes on it, transport it to market and sell it here and that is still cheaper than making the same product here, something is wrong.

1) entitlement mentality (unions) have made US wages much less globally competitive in manufacturing. This is not to say we should be paying slave wages like 3rd world countries, but the person installing hubcaps on your new focus don't need to make more than the guys who designed the car.

2) governmental regulation has done everything it can to make businesses uncompetitive. OSHA, EPA, etc are a major burden to any sort of manufacturing industry. Then on top of that we have the highest corporate tax rate in the world.

PS stangkiller is an accountant, so he just might know what he's talking about

capitalism Phil, that's how we defend it. Its also how you've been successful, off govt contracts no less. That wreaks of hypocrisy, but being a liberal requires hypocrisy

Who would argue this? UAW wages have pissed me off for YEARS.

These two specific organizations are needed. I'm sorry, but I like my working conditions to be as safe as possible. I also don't like being told 3M dumped chemicals in a ditch somewhere and is now contaminating the ground water. They might need an overhaul, but they are needed in some fashion.

There is at least 1 person who has posted in this thread who can't seem to comprehend the simple concept that not all jobs should pay equally.

It's just not... fair.

Russia tried that one wage fits all policy, how did that work out for them?

First point is a big reason companies move. Is it better to have more jobs in the US, with some lower paying, or to have less jobs? The unions have had their boot on the throat of big manufacturing for decades.

I agree that some level of safety and environmental protection are required, but those two agencies are out of control.

And heavy lobbying by the insurance industry that resulted in massive subsidies is what makes homeowner's insurance in hurricane zones, like the Keys, affordable. Everyone has their own Achille's heel when it comes to criticism of the lobbying game.

Note to Joecoool - Even if you had a video of Mitt Romney raping dead babies, you're not going to change any minds here. You are wasting your time.

SOME unions have. I'm not a "Throw out the baby with the bathwater" guy when it comes to unions. I agree, the UAW was nuts and still IS nuts.

Until he posts evidence that Romney has committed a crime, or even done anything unethical, and people here continue to support him, this remains one of the dumbest comments of the year.

Nope, you're dead wrong. Everyone would just say "I don't care what he did, I'll still take him over the American-hating communist Kenyan Muslim." And you know it.
