I wonder why.

And for the record.
It is NOT BHO's fault that todays gas prices are so high. It is supply, which is controlled by countries that mostly don't like us coupled with the progressive left that refused to increase oil production in the USA to stop sending a billion dollars a day to foreign countries.

But He DOES want it, He just does not want to pay the political price RIGHT NOW for it. If he gets elected in two years he will do whatever he can to push his green energy initiatives and drive gas prices and electric prices through the roof.

wasn't that the purpose of the Dept. of Energy? to work to move us away from foreign oil dependence?

how many years has it been?

how many billions spent annually on all those dept. of energy fed jobs? legacy costs? what exactly have they done?

at what point...and with how much money...does it become diminished returns?

The Department of Energy was formed after the oil crisis on August 8, 1977 by President Jimmy Carter's signing of legislation, The Department of Energy Organization Act of 1977

colossal failure.

shut it down NOW!!!

Isn't funny how the "R"s forget who was in office January 19th 2009

And 2008 just did not happen.

IF we killed the EPA, energy, and all their related functions in the .gov from state to local also....we would have maybe 5-10% of our oil need be imported, food prices would drop as a result of no ethanol, as dept of Ag is also eliminated....in fact I could cut the fed.gov budget by 50% and no one would notice, except the pink slip employees....tell the hippies to get a real JOB....

course that will never happen as the .gov is totally infected by lawyers, and they take care of themselves very well, at public expense....that is the primary reason the .gov from top down is such a mess,

need a Constitutional Amendment to bar lawyers from holding ANY public office....conflict of interest laws SHOULD suffice, but not with lawyers being judges.....

And let's not forget the Department of Education. Both are failures and both need to be dissolved.

Gas Prices will be down in no time ... you just wait and see.

Here's the thing. Let's just say a tidal wave of new drilling does occur. Even if gas prices DON'T go down a penny, think of the benefit to the American economy. The oil patch creates good paying jobs (yes, even some union jobs at the refineries). Think of all those previously unemployed or underemployed Americans (working at Walmart, perhaps) who will suddenly be able to have a good paying job drilling for oil or working for one of the many allied businesses that provide the oil patch with materials. Pipe companies, trucking companies, valve companies, engineering companies, fishing tool companies, accounting companies, law firms, etc. will all be able to expand due to the new drilling. Those are good jobs....American jobs. That also creates a whole new stream of taxes to apply to the budget deficit....taxes paid by companies and individuals. Isn't that a good thing?

So lets just say that drilling doesn't lower the cost at the pump. So what?

Do you want to put Americans to work or don't you? Also, keep in mind that producing domestic oil and gas does more for the security of America than any foreign war ever did.
