He was a weird dude. I saw him live here in town and while his picking was amazing, his stage manners sucked. He sat on the front edge of the stage with his black hat down over his eyes and just stayed there and played. Never spoke to the audience except for a few words here and there.

He did the same when I saw him around 1983/ '84.
Funny though, he didn't say a word but he sure spoke volumes.
He is in the top 5 of musicians that I've seen. He was just awesome.
We talk about that concert often at parties.
Cyndi Lauper opened... She was actually good too. Well the colors were anyway No, she really was.

Monster talent fo sho. Saw him with Jeff Beck in '89. (?)

<flamesuiton> I've said this before, but his best work was his jazzier tunes. His straight blues numbers kinda left me meh.
