I advise will pickup and they ask how much is the tip,,, I tell them no tip and will see them in 30 minutes at the side door where they stack the to-go orders.
Lady on the phone immediately hangs up, no thanks, no see you in 30 minutes--rude as ****!!

Why do I need to tip if I am not eating in, and I pick up my order at the door, as opposed to sitting in the parking lot for 10+ minutes waiting for my food to be brought to my car??

This crap is ridiculous, everyone wants to be paid $100/hr and get a tip for handing you the food order.

And this is why I prefer to dine at home,,,

BTW, wifey is out of town for four days, comes back late this afternoon, I hope she is not in the mood for Outback.
For gods sake don’t take your wife to Outback first of all. If you want to treat your family to some fine dining go to a fine dining establishment. Outback ain’t that. Find a local steakhouse, Italian, Asian, any thing but a chain. Local restaurants bust their balls to prepare and serve “fresh” food and maybe eclectic cocktails. Wait staff and others still don’t make jack and still rely on patron generosity. But you might be more willing to tip for something other than some previously frozen Alice springs chicken.

Open your stinkin Velcro wallet.

Blame the industry, not the workers scrimping and saving every penny. Think restaurant owners want change? Yeah, no.
There is zero excuse for not paying wait staff a competitive wage. It should not force prices up for the consumer since paying the tip has the same impact.

I have been to, and enjoy, restaurants that specifically say they are a NO TIPPING business. I feel like in that case, I have no guilt or pressure to tip...and I do it because they deserved it.

One should tip because staff deserves it, not because you might feel obliged to close the gap of a $2 “salary”. And you make a good point that overall prices shouldn’t have to increase. I don’t think we have no-tipping restaurants here but laborers deserve better. They’re probably generally nice anyway and they don’t have to go through the motions to pretend they like you.

Don’t really recall prices from our last overseas trip but they were probably comparable to fine dining in the us. What I did notice is some establishments are starting to accept tips, picking up on the nasty American habit. You still only need to leave a buck or two for excellent service and food…if you want to.

p.s. my wife has a business where it’s customary to tip. She stopped accepting them because she too is sick of the whole tipping bs.

Alright fine, I’ll post a food pic from L’isola di Capri. Not fine dining but paid what you’d expect to pay in the us but without the tip. We also had a lovely cocktail called a capri spritz that’ll knock you on your keister. No tip.

And of course the sights were stunningly beautiful.

Not my fault that Biden has fcked up everything so that you need to beg for a tip during fulfilling take out orders.

I seriously hope these ****ers that voted for minimum wage increases that are so outrageous like this voted themselves right out of jobs with no option for unemployment.

A "living" wage is subject to interpretation. It should be a competitive wage however.

I would rather flip burgers for minimum wage than wait tables for $2.00 and hour plus tips.

Now, if you make both a minimum wage job, I'd rather wait tables and do it well enough to earn tips on top of minimum wage.

Because a) Gen Z was born with an entitlement attitude, and b) tipping culture has gotten completely out of control. And restaurant owners are all in favor of this because they can continue to pay their workers substandard wages, knowing that customers will subsidize their employees' income.

Some brave restaurateurs are experimenting with paying their employees a more reasonable wage and banning tipping - you should seek them out and patronize them if you can.

Consider it like "pay it forward", as well as a "thank you" for showing up at work and getting 'er done.

I think the last picture is the most eye pleasing. Could you have zoomed in a little further up into that lower left corner?
So if you feel obliged to throw in a few mouth watering photos you took of foreign food and drink, why not the rest of us? ...

No offense intended, but that looks like vegan food. And aside from the first pic, straight up nasty looking. Would not eat.

Tipping is a US thing though. I remember all over Europe, tipping is only a thing near US military bases. Most places just pay their staff adequately so tipping is not a thing. In fact tipping is illegal in some countries.

15% has always been standard for good service 20% for outstanding. A waitress once told me “yeah but that was 50 years ago” I asked if she understood the concept of percentage? She looked at me funny and I said “ you get a raise every time the prices go up so why should the percentage AMOUNT go up?” I often wonder if any of these people ever learned ANYTHING in school

Holy moley that looks good!!

As far as the last pic with the photog chick and model chick, it was in Venice probably for an online ad, yelp or whatever. I cropped it so you could only see the “hot”. I saw the same model chick in an ad for another Venetian hotel. Blondie photog chick is nothing to sneeze at either. Perfect timing for me to walk by while they were doing the shoot.

This was another shoot in Central Park. Feel free to laugh at the fruity fruits. I did. lol Tried talking to red dress model chick. She just smiled at me with an Austrian accent or something. Didn’t understand a word I said. Probably on purpose.

"A living wage" is an anti-capitalist Marxist term.

Any job is worth what it's worth: the degree of skill needed, and/or the supply and demand of labor. A hamburger flipper does not make the same as a mechanic for a reason.

If you need a janitor and nobody applies, you'll have to offer more money. If 20 applicants show up, you're offering more than you need to.

When GOVERNMENT comes in and distorts the free market with force -- "minimum" or "living" wage -- things go haywire.

Lady on the phone immediately hangs up, no thanks, no see you in 30 minutes--rude as ****!!

This crap is ridiculous, everyone wants to be paid $100/hr and get a tip for handing you the food order.

And this is why I prefer to dine at home,,,

BTW, wifey is out of town for four days, comes back late this afternoon, I hope she is not in the mood for Outback.

If i'am going to drop $80 it's not going to be Outback. I wouldn't drop $50.
