Tailgate theft IS a big business in Houston. I have a foolproof anti-theft system for mine though. I left the tailgate down once while pulling a trailer, and got a dent right in the top center from the trailer's jack crushing it.

I thought about fixing it, but why? As it sits now, it's worthless to thieves. Also saves me from having to lock it.

my truck is used as a truck....and my tailgate is beat to hell.
